I lived in Colorado Springs, Colorado for 5 years where the US Air Force Academy and Peterson Air Force Base is located. While there were jets flying maneuvers all the time, a special time of year was the Air Force Academy graduation ceremony. The USAF Thunderbirds performed an extended high and low altitude show every year. The graduation ceremony was in the Football stadium and for safety reasons they only did the initial pass over the field and the show was in the area to the east. There was a roadside view pulloff on I-25 just to the east of the stadium that locals knew was very near and sometimes directly under the performance area. Oh man what a place to view the show, the sensations/sound of 6 F16's screaming past 400 or 500ft over head at 700 mph was intense. Went there every year to see the show.
