a concerning email
Heya guys. I just received an email that someone was trying to hack my account. I have been inactive for awhile now and just wanted to pass this on. There was ip address attached to the email and it ain't mine. If there is anyone that wants to look into this I can provide the full details.

Same happened to me some weeks ago:
Dear AOD_subadaga,
Someone has tried to log into your account on ClanAOD.net Forums with an incorrect password at least 5 times. This person has been prevented from attempting to login to your account for the next 15 minutes.
The person trying to log into your account had the following IP address: 46.165.221.166
All the best,
ClanAOD.net Forums
did you receive an email like this?

Yeah, I just got that too... from 91.219.236.218

The reversed IPs give out anonymous proxies.
My wild guess is some automated bot fetches a list of the usernames and attempts to bruteforce the account.
Bruteforcing is when it takes a list of passwords and tries them one by one until it suceeds, usually having lists of the most common known passwords.
You shouldn't be worried unless they actively succeed to login. At which point it is suggested that the compromised account, alongside any other accounts that may have the same password (Worst thing to do on the net! Have a different password for each of your accounts!) be reported as stolen/have their passwords reset.
Stay safe! :)
