What is everyone's thoughts on this new form factor is it worth trying out if your upgrading ?
It will eventually replace SATA at least partially.
It is the equivalent of a PCI express x2 slot (1GB/s)
For SATA III, we top out at about 550MB/s
With modern flash controllers and NAND, they can offer more than 550MB/s, (many are offering upwards of 700MB/s+ (using the same controller and flash from the SATA model).
We may soon see board layouts change with possibly 2 SATA ports only, and then 3-4 m.2 slots, and then standard PCI express for higher performance SSD's.
It is always good to have the OS on the SSD, but for games, it really helps with load times, as well as dealing with hitching for games which randomly load new assets when you get to a certain spot in the game.
