I try to set an avatar picture on teamspeakI get the following error msg: "Selected avatar file is too large. The maximum allowed file size is 5kb". The selected file has been smaller than 5kb (which is an unreasonably low limit to begin with though).
Are there any other limitations I've missed?
You need a lower sized picture try to make the size smaller or the quality lower.

What size limit? The 5kb I haven't exceeded, as stated in the OP or something else that's not shown to me in the error msg (e.g. pixel count)? If it was the latter, I'd be interested in a specification of the limitations.
I've just uploaded an avatar. There is a pixel dimension restriction (perhaps 256x256). The file I've tried to upload earlier had slightly larger dimensions
