AOD vs. AOD: What to do?

Recently had an arcade match where two AOD squads tried to sync up in a match, but they ended up on different sides. We talked about what to do, and there was confusion. I felt like the other AOD member "came after me" when he shot me down because I saw him and turned away, only to have him turn to me and shoot me down. My understanding was that you only shot at each other when it was head-to-head (apparently I was wrong). I think we need to "clean-up" what to do in these situations, and I would like to propose a simple solution... Why don't we eliminate all potential confusion by just saying we should play these matches just like any other match. Shoot down ANYONE from the other team, AOD or not. If we all accept this, there will be no hard feeling because we are just trying to help our own team to win. Trying to do it any other way, particularly in Air Dom matches is very problematic... Any thoughts?

Its always been explained to me, when something like that happens make a mutual agreement that neither group actively hunts each other but if it is in the matter of winning or losing its all up to skill or the first move. In arcade planes that is easier since its a large map and there are plenty of targets usually, but i know in tanks that may be tough if we both want a certain point.
So as long as its clear with everyone go with just avoid each other unless necessary.

When I was around at the time we always Negotiated if AOD vs AOD squads ON opposite teams were going to kill each other or Not Simple as that.

If you were than its open game and if you weren't avoid it in any way possible, if it's Realistic battles than you're probably going to want to put skill to the final test.

Rubble can actually reply himself, but I'll pass on the info that he told me of what to do in this situation. Never attack any AOD members unless they're preventing you from completing the objective (i.e. capping during domination).

For my personal take, I have had AOD dead to rights before in the situation that you've discussed, but what am I proving by killing a clansman? That I NEED that one kill that bad. The only person I'm actively looking to kill is Roefell.

When AOD vs AOD in arcade matches, AOD does NOT actively hunt the oppo AOD clan-mates. HOWEVER. There are caveats.

1-if domination match and AOD actively landing/capping airfield
2-If ground strike match, when AOD member is actively bombing/strafing targets.
3-Air Domination.These are massive furballs.AOD will end up killing AOD however unless the only people left on both teams,active hunting shall NOT occur

The above rules are moot when AOD members decide differently.In cases of "he says vs he says' the Sr.Ranking member on will decide. If it's unable to be decided amongst grown friggin' adults.

Way too complicated. And the fact that so many people had different interpretations proves that point. This needs to be MUCH simpler! I still think the simplest thing is to just treat AOD vs. AOD arcade like any other arcade match. Does anyone really think we will cause clan problems if we treat each other like an enemy for one freakin match when we go into the match knowing we will be enemies for just the one match? I think not. In the match where this happened, I didn't even shoot at an AOD enemy, yet I got shot down twice by AOD members, and in both cases we were not in a a head-on encounter. It looked way too much to me like I was easy pickins so advantage was taken...

It was an air dom match. Rule 3 applies. Weapons free, no 'hunting'.

Personally I try my very best not to shot any AOD even if it's guns free, there's many other targets to go for instead. I find it does mess up my game play because it looks like I am paying more attention to who is the target then what is the target. But it's not that big of a deal it's arcade and it's fun. I find communication in the beginning is important to know where everyone stands. I have seen games where it was guns opened and everybody still had a hell of a good time. I have also been in matches where things got a little to serious and have had members leave the clan. This didn't really answer your question, just my 2 cents ;)

It is a normal game. We don't hunt or grief other people, and we don't hunt or grief AOD members. Play the game and shoot who is in front of you or who is a threat to the objective.

If people want to agree to a cease fire they certainly can do so, but it is not a requirement by any means

I take the simple rules of;
1) Is the opponent AoD?
2) Is he currently engaging another AoD member (your suqad-mate), a game critical target or you? If so weapons free
3) If not 2) Just pull away, often on TS let them know if you can.

Where I get peeved is when I pull away & then the person you disengaged from engages you, but it happens.
What you never do is go "oh look their is nimvlar, 8km away 3 km up, I am going to ignore the 10 other ppl & go for him".

The question I would raise would be; If the AoD "target" also knows the value of altitude at what point are you to engage to maintain the dV advantage?

It's as simple as it gets Ender. It's a matter of Honor and respect. We do n ot hunt down AO ,embers who happen to be on the other team unless they pose a threat in completing the objective. IE:They're trying to take an airfield in Domination or Bomb a base. Or if the just HAPPEN to fly through your cross hairs..Idf that happens, fine, take a shot, but we do not actively hunt them down. To mu understanding, these rules have been in place a while and I COMPLETELY agree with them.

So to be clear... If it was an air domination match and an AOD member stalls in front of you at .5km when you were climbing to hold the higher alttitude because this is an air domination map it is ok to shoot?? Just want to make sure I got that right..... Man wish someone could clarify these things before we get into a match...

If they're on the enemy team, shoot them. Just don't be an asshole and ignore other targets to get at AOD members. Show some respect to your family.

I personally dislike non-aggression pacts because it makes it look like we're coordinating from both sides, which we shouldn't be doing. That is something that could damage our reputation.

This is a game, and the people on the other team are your enemies. These are the rules of engagement.
I'll agree to the fact that actively hunting or griefing in a nogo, but this accounts all players, not just your clanmembers.

Be warned. If I get an opportunity to shoot one of you guys down, I will! And if we're on the same TS channel, I will laugh and joke about it. If you can't take that, your're a sore loser.
I'll compare this to sitting in the livingroom with some friends playing Smashbros without attacking eachother, because "you're all mates."

I also have to agree to this, rules of engagement when your on the opposite side just makes little to no sense to me..... if your in front of me your getting my mg and cannon :P

But see theres more then it's shooting the other down, do we want to cause tension among your fellow members in AOD and accidentally create a player who doesn't want to squad up anymore.
It's like Firehose said its a respect thing, now also if its just the AOD members in a region of the map you might have to fight. But were a family here and we wish to minimize any possible drama here in house.
If a player outside of AOD gets angry we can explain that, were letting the other win but were not going try hard to kill each other either.

This has nothing to do with respect, it's about the rules of the game. I couldn't find anything directly adressing this in the WT EULA, or any other place; but the general consensus in online gaming is that "cooperating" across of teams is frowned upon, and in some places illegal and worthy of punishment.
From my understanding AOD is supposed to be a respectable clan, and this kind of behaviour does not reflect good on us outwards.

If a player gets upset with me for killing him he'll end up on my ignorelist. Problem solved.
