Is a Forum Signature Important?

I just spent some hours out of my life making my first ever forum signature because I felt like there a strong need to do so. Now that I am done with the project I wonder, was it really necessary? So my question is Do you think a forum signature is important? If so why or why not?

--- In my personal opinion I don't think it is necessary, but it allowed me to play with my typography and photoshop skills more in comparison to doing a digital art piece that I would normally do. So I think it is just something nice to have overall.

I just use the signature as a mark for where I posted, because it gets annoying looking for my previous post, plus it's colorful and I like it :)

My opinion is a forum signature is not important unless you are trying to create a personal brand or share some insight into your personality without overtly doing so.

Nice work, Shlop. I like the aggressive angles which you've designed to work pointing either inward or launching outward. The pen is an interesting touch. Have more thoughts, but rarely is someone actually looking for options to augment design. :)

If you start to add a lot of images I might suggest linking them instead of attaching. Over time the attachments from older posts that you make could get scrubbed from the forums. Wouldn't want you to rely on it as an archive. Food for thought.

I use Tapatalk 90% of the time so my signature is just kind of nonexistent

I don't think it's that important, but it can really help in achieving some individuality, and show some personality.

I think it's part of human nature to want to stand out a bit, especially on something such as a forum. Not to mention if you put up something you're proud of, it could be a nice topic of conversation.

I rather like what you've done for yours. Simple, yet incredibly unique logo design.
