So after a few talks with some friends the question kept coming up if gtx 1080would be 2.0pcie compatible or not with such a huge jump in technology. if they made a pci 3.0 card that WASNT backwards compatible, they'd lose alot of money

But the reason i wanted to know about the 2.0 is im buyingthe gtx1080 on the 27th but not going to build a whole new system for a few months, its the middle of riding season and i cant spend to much on hobbies so gotta spread em out.

I run the 780s sli with no problem but im sure im losing power i dont miss, how ever ill be upgrading in a few months and ill probablyhave the mobo cpu for about 4 years then upgrade gpu at 2 years and then whole new system again.

Almost all single cards wont see a huge different in PCI-e channels, PCIe 3.0 x4 give 95% performance on a gtx 980
