I've done a similar thing on my bomber/heavy fighter setup, albeit with 4 decals. I've gone with the red, black and white AOD colours and set my decals twin sided in an effort to have the same view from top or bottom. Unfortunately the alignment of plane v decal makes this really hard to get right.
