Default New Build = New Monitor

    Hey there!

I am going to be making a new build soon. Main parts will most likely include a 6700k and a 980ti Hybrid. (Trying to decide if I'm going to SLI or not still?).
Sadly, as of now I have been gaming on a TV Screen. A 1080p 27'' 60hz TV. And boy, I feel like I have been missing out not having a monitor! So I have decided I am going to get a new monitor with my new build.
I have decided to go 1440p rather than a 1080p or 4k screen.
I have been looking at a lot of monitors, but some certainly caught my eye. Especially the following:

    - Asus PG279Q (2560x1440 - 165hz - 27'')
    - Acer Predator X34 (3440x1440 - 100hz - 34'')
    - Asus PG348Q (3440x1440 - 100hz - 34'')
    -------------
Since I've been gaming on a 60hz screen pretty much...well forever, I have no idea what it's like to game on an actual monitor. I saw that the PG279Q has a refresh rate of 165hz. While the other 2 ultrawides have a 100hz refresh.

I am very torn on which monitor to get. (Size is not an issue). Everywhere I looked, I've seen it about 50/50 on which is "better" for gaming. At this point I feel like it's either a higher refresh, or higher resolution.
Though how much of a difference do these "Hz" make? And what would you guys do?

A lot of the time it comes down to personal preference and what feels best for you, 90% of the time you are going to have to calibrate your monitor out of the box. If you can push the frames though you can't go wrong with a high refresh rate monitor. However the flip side to that is the bigger you go in resolution the less frames you are going to be able to push. Another thing to consider is weather or not you want something like gsync or Freesync and I can say from experience that gsync makes a night and day difference to gaming. Then you have to consider response times...basically it's personal preference.

Hey, thanks for the input! I did also forget to mention, all the monitors do have G-sync!

I would go with the Asus PG348Q. You can't beat it at the price and what it does. Also, I think you are spending to much on a monitor I would save most of your money for something more important but I'm not here to control your life so do whatever you want.

I don't think it is in the states yet, not sure. Though I think it'll be coming out within a few weeks, based off what I've heard.

Go for a 144hz GSync monitor, 1440p will probably be your best shot. http://www.amazon.com/Asus-PG278Q-27.../dp/B00MSOND8C is probably gonna be the best one.

I've decided I'm going to go for the Asus PG279Q. Saw it at a store the other day, it looks amazing! Compared to this 1080p 60hz TV....I've been missing out :D
