Default Looking to buy the acer rog pg348q

Any of you guys bought this? Im looking for a monitor that I can play games and do some graphics stuff. I am a full time graphic designer. I very rarely bring projects at home though but its nice to have an ultra wide monitor if I need to. At the office we run dual ultrawide samsungs i think those are the $800 ones I think.

Btw i have 970 gtx how is the performance on that gaming wise?

That's a hell of a monitor. I got an asus rog swift PG278Q 2560x1440 @ 144hz monitor, I initially had a 970 but had planned to get a gtx1080 (which I have now). For the demanding games maxed out (i have BF4/Overwatch) I was getting solid frames but when a lot was going on I would dip below 60 in battlefield sometimes but the G-Sync feature helped the lag a bit. With the 970 I really had no issues constantly with the dipping but with my 1080 I get 110-144 (usually on the higher end) fps and 130-144 fps (limited) in overwatch.

So yes at my monitor which is a 27 inch 1440p panel the 970 would probably do nicely with a few settings turned down. More demanding games you might not get away with as easily. For the size monitor you are looking at, while still a 1440p it has a lot more pixels to render on the width so you may need a little more horsepower to run it depending on how high you like to crank the settings (would be a shame not to on such a nice panel).

GPU upgrade might have to come with it depending on your settings.

Just my two cents based off my experience.

Got mine on a dresser next to my desk, its a showy case so no floor. Also with all the husky hair I kinda need it up. Get a small stand to keep it up off the floor a bit imo.

Gaming will be pretty bad on that monitor with a 970. unless you wanna play on low settings you're gonna need a beefier GPU, a 1070 or 1080 would probably do.

I run the x34 ( 1440p 100hz gsycn ) and it sucks massive about overwatch and some games that do not support the res.

I would highly suggest upgrading your GPU fairly soon. Even my old 980ti and 1080 struggle to maintain 100fps in most games.

I love my Acer X34 and am glad I went with the UltraWide! Playing games on it look amazing. Sure, some won't work with it, but the ones that do (Most of them), oh boy...do they look good! Plus good for productivity! You can have 3 tabs or more open and fit the screen with it looking great. Though a 970 may struggle a little with gaming, especially if you want higher settings and frames.

I end up buying Acer Z35 a lil cheaper than x34 plus resolution on x34 is too tiny for me lol.

nice looking set up you got there. I am actually thinking of bringing back my x34 to work and picking up a 4k gsync monitor. I play racing and cockpit games but they all support oculus rift which means I have no need for the wide screen now.
