What genre are you looking for? Action, Shooter, MMORPG, RPG, Strategy, City Builder, etc..?
Any really
For City Builder games, I'd recommend Anno 2070. It's about $20. It's a little complex, but you deal with production chains, management of space, happiness of your citizens, etc. It's also one of the few city builders with a military aspect to it.
For Strategy, I'd recommend any of the Civilization games. I think Civ 5 is a bit expensive, but the older ones may be within your price range.
A really good indie game company that makes some interesting games, though, is Introversion.
Uplink - hacking simulator (one of the best around)
Darwinia - I'm not really sure what genre this is. You'd just have to play it to see.
Prison Architect - Design, manage, and build a prison. They've recently gotten out of Beta, and it's a really well designed game.
Those are just a few off the top of my head.
On a side note, did you realize you double-posted this topic?
Bad rainbow, bad bad rainbow
He's supposed to give me the money. Seriously though, i enjoy the Anno 2205 so if Anno 2070 is worth what everyone says that i'd recommend that for city builders.
There's also a kewl scifi one out there now called Planetbase but i believe that was a project greenlight project. Its 19.99 on Steam right now. GMG has a sale on Anno 2205 but your steam wallet doesn't transfer there haha.
Thank you for everyone's suggestions, I'll be sure to check them out and I did not mean to double post it my browser was messing up and I thought it didn't post.

Rebel Galaxy, if you like old space games like Freelancer.
Except in this one there is broadside combat, so you fly around firing off cannons at other huge ships from your broadsides while sniping smaller ships down with your turrets.
It's a lot of fun and has great gamepad support if you have a PC
I would personally save it for one of the games coming out in the next year. Since I'm not sure if you're a fan of Fallout (although I doubt anyone that isn't me isn't) I recommend waiting for one of the games that we may support as full-divisions, such as The Division and Star Wars Battlefront.
