Nice OC you got there! Nothin notable here...Still have my i5-3570K. I've had on water for the past few years, but sitting at 4.2, 1.275 vcore. Been up to 4.4 a few times at around 1.3 vcore but it made me nervous. I've also had my loop configured backwards for the majority of my time using liquid cooling, so once I motivate myself to position the radiator AFTER the cpu block I may get daring and go over 1.3 volts and shoot for a stable 4.8
I run my i5-6600k at 4.1Ghz, stock is 3.5Ghz. My CM212 cooler keeps it at a nice and steady 45c under load.
Floppy, what cooler/heat dissipation you using?
Running an H100 with 4 cougar fans in push/pull for the CPU, they're tied to CPU temp so they throttle up/down. Running a bunch of cougar fans throughout the case. I also have one really high flow fan (like 200 CFM) on a fan controller that I only turn on when I'm doing benchmarking stuff where it'd be at 100%; its in the upper left of this pic. WAYYYYYYY too loud to run normally though, it sits at like 10% so its quiet.
Nice OC, I think I got a bad chip for my i5-3570k lol. I can go a bit higher than I have, but found a 4.00 OC works the best. My temps are pretty good though!
Doing a new build soon and hopefully I'll get a good chip!
The memory controller in my chip sucks. I need to use 1.65v just to do 1600mhz memory. Can't hit 2133 without an unsafe amount of voltage. My last build before this one, long ago, had a really badly binned i7 920 chip which couldn't hit 4.0 no matter what, it happens.
Also, the 3570 is a pretty strong chip still, if you're gonna spend the money to upgrade I'd do every other component first if they're not already top notch. (faster ssd, better gpu etc). Like Kaos said though, the 6600k would be a good choice if you are upgrading CPU but they're in a bit of short supply recently so the prices are kinda inflated I think.
Prime95 sends it up to 85 after an hour. I know it's an unrealistic scenario to run (their algorithm). Gaming load is around 70C.
I plan on getting an i7-6700k actually! Can't wait!
I have the opportunity to get everything so I most likely will be upgrading it all! I want an i7 since I've been doing video editing lately for my YouTube Channel as well. Thought it would be a nice upgrade for everything overall. My local store has it in stock and price is not too bad at all too. Though I will also be getting a faster and bigger SSD and GPU along with everything else ;)
I've had very good luck with Intel or Samsung SSDs. Other brands not so much.
Have you decided on a new GPU yet? I got a 970 a while ago and have been fully satisfied with the performance so far.
Also, look into buying high quality fans for your case. I never really did this until my most recent build and the difference is amazing. I went with cougar fans, high airflow low noise and they are fantastic.
On the OC subject, I managed to get into windows at 5049 MHz yesterday, but then it immediately BSOD on me. I may fiddle with it a bit more to see if I can manage a screenshot of that speed before it crashes.
Be careful mate, I'd hate for you to brick your computer... I have been using an 4790k and was able to get that to 4.8 steady but I didn't try to push it further. I will probably try in the future to reach 5.0 (largely depending on voltage) plus I have a liquid cooler so I'm not entirely worried. But the tinkering aspect is one of the greatest things when it comes to PC master race and it's something that console losers...I mean users won't ever understand.

I'm thinking of getting a 980 Ti. Not sure if one or two actually though..lol
If I get a 3440x1440 screen, I might. If I just get the native 2560x1440 I probably won't, not sure what to do yet.
Also, are there any high quality case fans you'd recommend other than cougar, or are those pretty good? I never heard of them really until lately.
I went with cougars because of their bearing technology and the fan blade design. They have higher airflow per dBA than almost any of the other fans on the market. Cougar started out with a bunch of German engineers making badass products and I've found their stuff to be top notch. The only downside is some of the products don't come in a wide variety of color choices so you may be stuck if you're going for 100% visual appeal. Their prices are also not expensive compared to some of the other brands with similar performance. Unless you're willing to spend $25-30 per fan you're probably not gonna get a better fan.
Oh yeah, and make sure you pay attention to what kind of fans you need for the particular application you're using them in. PWM fans vs variable DC voltage makes a big difference
