    Default Loving Tanks!

So, after playing WOT for several years, I wasn't sure I would like WT Tanks. But turns out I love it more than WOT. It's not the camp fest that WOT is. And the detail of the tanks is insane!

That's primarily the ground detail that will be demanding on your system...

play Realistic battles or Sim for real fun. I played WoT since the closed Beta and I enjoy the tanking in WT better - other than my Cromwell, i miss my Cromwell dreadfully

Agree completely. I find the WT tanks a much better damage system then WoT.

I've played a few hours of tanks since starting in WT but I struggle a little bit because I don't really understand ammunition and where I'm supposed to be aiming on the tank, mainly because I've had nowhere near enough time to play them yet. Hopefully I'll be able to play with you guys in <2 rating at some point.

And don't forget about the crews, you can actually SEE them in open top vehicles. No remote controlled tanks here. No hitpoints. No invented (by WG) tanks or things that existed only in blueprints.

Ammo is quite simple to understand. The type of ammo you should use depends on your target's armour and your distance to it. For AP shells I usually take the penetration at 500m & 30 deg to choose which ammo to load. APCR is only good for heavily armored targets at distances below about 500m. Fragmentation is devastating for lightly armored targets. Normal HE shells can do a lot of damage if fired to certain parts of the target - I can kill a Maus with a 152mm HE shell if I aim just below the gun - the shell explodes on impact sending shrapnel shells straight down into the weak top hull armor and setting it on fire. HEAT has the same penetration at all distances but I find its use limited.

As for aiming try driver's hatch, gun, gunner's viewport and generally the flattest spot facing you. From the side you can take out ammo (which might or might not explode), engine or fuel tanks as well as crew. From the rear in case of tank destroyers without a turret the first thing you can aim for is the engine so you pin them in place and maybe set them on fire. Once they're stuck you can happily take out its crew/set them on fire/make the ammo blow up depending on the TD. I hope this helps. If you want I can do some training with you so you understand things better.

Tanks is kinda fun to do sometimes but I also find, that if I am playing tank I`m getting frustrated a lot more and faster then playing planes.

And it would be a lot more fun if the rusian tanks wouldnt be so OP or just give them the correct BR/tier.

Russian isnt as op as it used to be. Germans getting the leopard 1 has helped out in the 7.7+ BR.

Check out you tube on how to side scrape and angling. This will help alot with some of the frustion. I can link some videos when i get home.

Also typically if your in a medium tank you shouldnt be going head on with other tanks. Alot of medium tanks dont have the armor to take a hit from the front. You should be trying to be sneaky and get into a flanking position to hit the sides of the enemy. Try shooting the side of the turret wich will usually take out there gun or gunner. Then you have time to line up a better shot on there side. If you shoot them and dont take out there gun or gunner they might be able to still shoot back.

Also if there is more than 1 tank shoot the back one first. If you shoot the lead tank the others will see it and shoot at you. If you shoot the back one sometimes the ones in front wont notice. Got 4 kills in 3 minutes this way last night.
