Default I have asked for a bomber pilot strike.

Before you read this, keep in mind I play realistic mode or sim mode for tanks, and almost only realistic mode for planes. I did this in the general discussion forum for War Thunder. There is a night/day difference between my score as a fighter pilot and that as a bomber pilot. Sure, while flying a bomber, I can occasionally have a really nice mission, but if I play 10 fighter missions, then 10 bomber missions, all at the same BR, the fighter scores win hands-down.

Bomber pilots in this game are gimped to the point they are flying targets. The higher the BR, the more vulnerable the bomber. The B57A seems like an exception to that, except B57A's have to land to get more bombs, and the enemy is all-too-happy to shoot them on the ground. (and no fighters seem inclined to fly CAP at the home base.

This is directly related to a team-driven game being played predominantly by "ME ME ME" players, imo.See,bomber losses in WWII were huge, until fighter escorts were developed and tactics used to negate,or drastically reduce the losses. In this game,Weather, time to target, etc are negligible. Ergo, fighter escort is the ONLY way for bombing to be successful on a regular basis.

AOD flys w/bomber escorts often, and our bomber-pilots are often very successful in their strikes. It's not normally "Fun' for a fighter pilot to play "escort' however I have had success with fighters staying 2-4000'ft below the bomber, taking out any who come up,yet remaining close enough to gain alt. to engage any boom/zoomers. Spanakis and I played this way every day for months on end, trading places in bomber/escort.He was much better at escort than I was,but We were both over 60% more effective than w/out escort. P'nut and I fly escort/wing w/out even speaking, and I'm gaining that familiarity w/several other pilots as well. Find a mate who is willing to fly escort.Study the planes You're using and learn their secrets/uses. Lemme know when Ur on Torgund,I'll try to help ya out and remember-

Yep. It's a game. That's my main argument. It's all well-and-good that a bomber should do better when cooperating with a fighter, (or that 2 bombers would do better with 2 fighters) The more team cooperation, the better the team. This makes sense in just about any game or activity. My point is that if you are not playing with someone you know that can cooperate, there's no real problem in a fighter, where in a bomber it's a near-certain loss in this game.

The fact that you would need to cooperate with a fighter in order to have some chance of success is an indication that there is a bias going here.

I can see it as being fine if people actually think they are in any situation where they have a good chance to do well by taking a bomber that they indeed take their bomber.

I play at irregular times, so my chance of developing a good partnership are limited.

I do still hope to talk players in general into no longer flying bombers (when they have no dependable friendly escort) in realistic mode, as I think it will, in general, hurt the chances of you and your team doing well.

I play bomber and have often win missions alone with my fellow bombers just by pilling the enemy's defence and ground forces to total annihilition and I must admit the reward you get for it is not much. i am not complaining BUT do not complain either when every fighter pilot or tanker in the game is going for individual glory instead of team victory. Time to come up with extra reward for TEAM play and efforts put towards achieving team goal. i am with you on that qon Torgund

the main issue is that bombers need to start higher so that enemy fighters have to work a lot harder to get high enough to intercept them. also better defensive armament even if its not realistic would help. I mean the 7.62mm british guns are next to useless.
