    Default Simple Case Mod

I've got the rosewill challenger, and I want a side window. Not that the insides anything to brag about, I just like seeing it.
My brother in law doesn't think I should do it, think's I'd mess up a perfectly good case.
As far as I know the project is pretty simple, some bolts, some nuts, a dremel, a steady hand, and some kind of clear material. plexiglass, i dont know.
    Just wondering everyone elses opinion

Personally I wouldn't cut into a case, I would drop some money a new one if you got the money. I use a Storm Stryker full tower case and you will always have room.

As long as you can afford a new case if you screw something up then go for it, you can't really do that much damage to the PC by modifying a side door. Sounds like a fun project to me. But as said, if you care about the $, you can probably just buy a new case for $50 with a good side window and flip the old case to someone. If you go for it I would maybe suggest rummaging a spare part tech shop for a case door with a window and fan on it already, then you can just fit it to your case.

I would say first check with Rosewill, see if maybe you can order a replacement side panel from them if you need to. That way you aren't out a whole case necessarily if you mess it up.

As for the cutting, i say it is worth a shot depending on how stout that door is. I did a cut in on a case panel many years ago, but the case I did it on had much thicker metal doors, so even when it was a big hole it didn't lose much stability. When i attached the plexiglass to it, I cut it to fit the whole width of the door that it could sit flat in in order to help make sure it was stable. For attachment, I went with clear silicon chalking. get a nice big bead so that it spreads when you set on the door, then put a big book or something on top. Once it cures that window will be close to impossible to remove. This obviously wouldn't be the choice if you actually want the look of the screws/nuts.

I have done this on several cases (back in the day before you could buy a see through case).
    It's easy as pie.
Make sure to drill pilot holes on your corners (if your doing a square).
Get some good masking tape and "line out" your cut on each side.
You can clear rtv, rivet, nut and bolt ect.the plexi on to the door...I have used good duct tape in a pinch (you won't see it...but it's a bit hackey)
Give yourself plenty of overlap (I usually give an inch) from your cut to your plexi.

Take your time..have fun....It's not the end of the world if you mess up (it's just a case).
    Oh yea....wear safety glasses.
    Post pics of your progress!
