    Default Computer Update Help

I am looking to upgrade some of my PC components as my current build is nearly 3 years old. My current build is listed below.

CPU: AMD FX-4100 3.6 GHz quad core
Mobo: Asus M5A88-V EVO ATX AM3+
    Memory: 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600
    Storage: 1TB 7200RPM Hard drive
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB
Case: Raidmax Smilodon Extreme ATX-612WEB ATX Mid Tower Case
PSU: Corsair Enthusiast 650W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply
Optical Drive: Asus BC-12B1ST/BLK/B/AS Blu-Ray Reader, DVD/CD Writer

I am looking to upudate my CPU, Mobo, Memory and GPU. The error I am getting from PC Part picker is this:

Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard has an onboard USB 3.0 header, but the Raidmax Smilodon Extreme ATX-612WEB ATX Mid Tower Case does not have front panel USB 3.0 ports. Two other potential motherboards I am looking at give me the same message. Would I have to buy a new case to update my motherboard?

That's not a big deal. USB 3.0 is faster, but you don't need it. If you have front USB, there are USB 2.0 spots on that mobo. Also there are rear slots for the 3.0, so it's there if you really want to use it.

Also, while you're in there, you should consider liquid cooling. The Corsair H55 would be a good fit for that case and processor.

Thanks. I will look into liquid cooling, but I have never had an issue with my current setup so I see now reason to add it now.

I had RAM clearance issues for my newest build, so I had limited options. I got the H100i. It's easy to install and it works great. (Because of your case you would need to stick with a single fan radiator setup.)
