    Default Question

Hello to anyone reading this thread I have a quick question. And before you tell me where to find the answer I have looked for myself and couldn't find it. As many of the Sim players know I am soon to be signing up for the Military and am now leaning towards the Marines. As such I may be gone for long periods of time in the up coming year. The question is how to request a leave of absences due to the fact that I may have real life responsibilities that may take longer than what I consider a normal amount of time of MIA (2 days max). Thank you for the answer!

merely get w/Your squad leader and let them know You'll be TDA/Temporary Duty Abroad *This is known in the Marines as Traveling Drunken Assholes* Once You get into "MarkI/Mod0 training-Receiving phase,You'll need to discuss it with Your squad leader,as You'll most likely post overseas or Blue Water *Naval ship*. Tips before Basic

Do.Not.Get.A.Haircut.Before. It is a "ritual' designed to show You all that You are all to be treated alike. *just like dogshit*.Remember, the idea of Basic is simple. 1-Acquaint You with the UCMJ as well as how to dress, speak, respond, and act like a damned Marine. EVERY Marine is a rifleman. From the Commandant to the guy who burns the shitter barrels. *And Yes,the commandant qualifies, quarterly. We've NEVER had one fail*. Denying the other recruits a chance to see YOU Shed Your 'Civvie' hair WILL piss off Your D.I./Sgt.

Do.Not.Piss.Off.The.Sgt. He/She *Yes,there are SHE Sgt's/D.I.'s* will find ways to make Your life miserable in ways You didn't realize were possible.

    NEVER volunteer.

Learn when You're being "Volun-told' You're doing something.

NEVER be last.EVER. In ANYTHING. If You are,You'd better be aflame, dying, bleeding profusely, and apologetic about the damned mess...then they may call the Corpsman over to at least scoop whats left into a ziploc for the family.

LEAD from the rear. This is unique to Marines as a service, though often seen in SpecWar units. If made Section/platoon leader,You are the best,at everything. However, you spend most of Your time with "That' guy. The one who JUST ain't getting it.You eat last with him, cause He eats last for being last in the P.T. Run. You rack-out last,as You're making sure Your chicks are all in bed,and ready for tomorrow. They will give You shit, call You "Mother' and in the end, respect You a WHOLE lot more for putting THEM ahead of YOU. YOU are nothing w/out THEM,and vice/versa.

last but not least. Learn the USMC history. From the Tun tavern to to no U.S. flagged ship EVER being boarded by a war-time enemy. From Johnathan Winters to ME. *Btw,Mr. Rogers was NOT a Marine sniper...* Recognize that the blood-stripe on Your dress pants signifies the blood shed,in training and in war,by Your Brothers and now/Sisters. Marine's are a odd bunch. We're the smallest service, asked to do the most, with the least equipment, and can You do it yesterday. We smile, say "Yes Sir' and promptly do as ordered. We feel a tie to every Marine whose ever put on a pair of boondockers and transported mud from one location to another via bi-pedal movement. From Boyington in the skies to the guy who hands over Your paychit. They're all the same. Rifleman, trained as You are and ready to fight as You are. It'll teach ya alot Mate. As said in the Corp-

Yes,We ARE a department of the Navy. The MENS Department,Ty very much. Please watch Your step as You exit.

We anticipate that people will have real life responsibilities and that many can't be on daily. That is no problem. If you anticipate that you will be leaving for an extended period of time with the intention of coming back, you can request a LOA by following the procedure in the following link:
