Default [POSSIBLE LANGUAGE] AMD not being able to use NVIDIA technologies

This video is about NVIDIA's possible attempt at trying to be the only standing company in graphics card business. Their actions on such things not only hurt AMD's business, but it hurts the PC Gaming community too.

The things 2kliksphillip talks about here concern War Thunder too, since the NVIDIA GameWorks is used on War Thunder. You can even see the post about it on NVIDIA's website when he mentions about the GameWorks.

I have an AMD Graphics Card. Since the new graphical engine rolled into War Thunder I've been having some trouble with it time to time because the new engine is using NVIDIA Technologies (a.k.a NVIDIA GameWorks). They don't work particularly good on AMD cards. There are obvious framerate issues, effects aren't as good as if I had a NVIDIA card, sometimes weird things happen with the whole game, etc etc. One example is that, I couldn't play War Thunder for a while because the entire game would be in pink when I launch it. Yeah, literally pink. think about light colours turning into light pinks and dark colours turning into dark pinks, something like that. This issue happened before 1.53 and came back severely with 1.55, so I reported the bug to developers and somewhat solved it.

I get that NVIDIA possibly does not care about people with AMD cards and maybe I should even be grateful that games still run on my AMD card. However, if NVIDIA would not keep things only to themselves -- as if they invented it all -- this would not happen.

I know and accept that NVIDIA's cards are still better in performance than what AMD have produced, but I have doubts now about validity of such thing. What if ATI/AMD had gotten the market in their hands before NVIDIA did, and do the same things against them, maybe all of us would have AMD graphics cards while NVIDIA would be struggling trying to catch up...

I want your guys' opinion on this, do you think what NVIDIA does is fair or do you think that AMD should have the same technologies as NVIDIA does?

Business is business. If a competitor can get a 1 up, thats business. I run a full AMD setup. Yes there are games that are clearly optimized for NVidia & not for AMD, & yes it's annoying.

Yea, but that's not business. That's being underhanded. They already have a decent market share.

For the record, the best performance/$ card is the R9 390X right now.
AMD is being the good guy by opening up as freeware for drivers. I used to be an nVidia fanboy myself, but with the purchase of an R9 280 for this last rig, I'm starting to see how they can be considered overpriced for less.

I totally agree. Why couldn't AMD create a card that was at least capable of supporting games that use NVidia? Or, why shouldn't AMD counter back with their own system?

My point is, it's a revolving door. Until a company gets an upper hand, nothing will move forward.

If you created your own special gaming rig, that was worth $1 million, wouldn't you also want high profile games to build their game based on your rig to sell as many as you can? Or would you rather say nah, I'm happy making a $1,000 rig and allowing the competition to do what I originally wanted?

well AMD and NVidia both have gdamn problems each have different probs and if they both work together they can make the best tech stuff together without flawls
it it would be better if they shut up with the needless talking and hating each other they gain more with working togetherX3

Nvidia's products have for years, dominated AMD's vs reliability, integrity of chipsets, and customer service. The last one is key, since the only thing different in both companies is the design and coding. They buy the same shit, from the same people,to build the same rough idea.

I support Nvidia's dominance, and the fact that gaming studios are focusing on their products. If You make a shitty product, and fix the issues, deal with Your customers well,it'll recover. (Chrysler in the 80's) If you make a shit product and it isnt supported by follow-on's and customer service,it goes away *See-Yugo*.

This isn't to say Nvidia haven't/don't have their issues, however I believe it to be a superior product in most aspects.

I buy Nvidia cause I hear more horror stories about AMD Drivers fucking up machines then Nvidias.

The software only Nvidia supports its a business model. AMD have always been better bang for buck but they (in my eyes) lose out on reliability and backward driver support is utter crap to the point where if people try and do it themselves they shut them down. If the new driver makes any game on your PC unplayable the answer the tend to give is "Tough shit".

He can argue all he wants about how bad Nvidia is for the industry, but just because AMD gives out things for free doesn't make them an Angel.
I'll agree, limited software is always bad for the Industry and good for Business.

But, that is business. Giving yourself the advantage. Why does it seem no one bashes on Apple to give out there software so other people can use it other then Apply but seems to bash on any other company that does it?

People hate Windows cause of things that only support Windows.
People hate Nvidia cause of things that only support Nvidia

But no one seems to give a fuck about apple when imo they are the worst of the bunch when it comes to not giving out tech.... the difference simply is they don't have as a big market dominance.

I don't buy Apple. I never have because it's so restrictive.
That nVidia would actively design their software to inhibit their competition, that has a smaller market share, is in my opinion shady and underhanded. I'm not saying AMD is perfect, but I would rather support a company with less shitty business practices. I just happen to also save money in the process.

This was extremely interesting, I've had a flop between Nvidia and AMD over the years, with my first GPU being a 8400GS (AWFUL) but come on it was cheap as hell and i was young and clueless. My next card ended up being a 9800GT which lasted me for quiet a few years untill i build my own computer i'm still using today which i splurged on and bought an AMD 5870 that lasted me the longest out of all my cards which i just recently swapped for an Nvidia 970 which i absolutely love. That being said I always did feel shafted when i had an AMD card like almost every game i played if i saw Nvidia in the opening credits for developers i knew my card was going to suffer on this game. Now that i have an Nvidia card i feel like there hasn't been even press between the two at all because at the end of the day most games will run pretty even compared to the flagship models regardless of brand. Anyways interesting read hopefully i'm getting a g-sync monitor this xmas and i will let people know how that preforms with my card.
