I had a good time racing on 1/9. I was in a GT4. I get the appeal of having multiclass racing, but I really think that everyone should be on GT3s for multiple reasons.
1- GT4s really feel like second class citizens. It feels like we're just there to add excitement and a challenge to the GT3's race.
2 - It really is hard to have good racing as GT4s when being lapped within 10 laps of the start of the race. The GT4s pace is really affected, even when clean passes are made. As soon as we start getting lapped, close racing is really hard to find.
3 - We don't have enough people for multi-class racing. 8 racers per class is kinda lame - and with the GT4s getting spread out so much when the lapping starts, well it kinda saps the fun away.
4 - We're more likely to have close racing the more people are in the same class. Skill level will be spread out over comparable cars because there would be enough of us. For instance, I'm comparable in skill to Soup and Talamandrie, with Scudbot being way ahead - But if we were racing in GT3s, it'd be me, Soup and Talamandrie plus whoever else we can compare to in GT3s.
5 - The GT4s aren't well balanced. The Ginetta and the Aston are way faster than the other cars. The Mustang is pretty slow in comparison, and the BMW doesn't stand a chance. If there are any good size straights on the track, the Scion will get eaten alive. So it's just a GT3 race and an Aston GT4 race. Pretty soon everyone will get the hint and everyone will be on the Aston on the GT4s race.
6 - There is SO SO SO much lapping going on, it makes the race so much more difficult. I got taken out twice by over-eager GT3s in Donington and not for lack of skill, per se, but because we're all racing hard. If we're all in GT3s, there will be less lapping, which means fewer chances for collisions. If we're all on GT3s, and you're getting lapped, then chances are you will be able to get out of the way because it's already the end of the race. But lapping GT4s, we're racing, we're encouraged to race, but passing is hard, so it makes us GT4s too spread out, and gives too many chances for collisions against GT3s.
For next season, next month, I hope this is taken into consideration.
Longer seasons and random weather would be amazing too.
for a long time there have been alot of complaints from drivers who will never have a chance to beat people like ph33rz, nunu, scudbot, homie g, ect ect - this is why-after several months we went with the imsa idea, where theres a champion for gt3, and a champion for gt4 with the season end points "promoting" people up, and down after a season
I do understand what your'e saying- and at time we have a turnout of 25+ people which helps with some of the points youre making
So in the end imsa is a result of members feedback who felt that battling for p10 every race wasn't enough, putting them in a class of their own gives them a chance to finally go for a win, go for a drivers championship- and that the end of the day earn their ticket to the "pro" series
the passes that happen between each class will always be a thing to improve on no matter what, nature of the beast for multi-class racing in general. Gt3's fighting for position lose time during the transition, gt4 cars lose time
if we DO imsa next season is actually up for questioning so thanks for your feedback
meanwhile check out our other leagues thru the week- we offer plenty of variety besides imsa regarding race length, cars, weather, ect.
Me and RTMPro were battling hard last season to win the GT4 Championships. He just barely beat me for the season. When was the last time me or RTMPro came close to winning any league we've done?
GT3's is one of my least favorite classes (though I'm starting to like the RUF), and I'd rather be in GT4. But the concept of the IMSA league is not to make GT4 seem like second class citizens, but to give them the ability to have a shot at winning a championship based on skill. It's why Me, RTM, and another got pushed up to GT3, and several others got pushed down to GT4 from GT3.
If we ever build our numbers up to astronomical levels, we want to have a Pro and Pro/AM division for every single league we do, not just IMSA.
Oh, and sorry I bailed on the race. Unexpected guest showed up.

Yeah if we had 40, 50 guys, having 2 classes, one GT3 and one GT4 would be awesome, where people move up and down based on skill level. That would be so so cool. But there doesn't seem to be enough guys right now. Either way they should be racing on different servers, anyway, for the reasons I already described....
I have no idea what i am doing.....
I personally love the IMSA format as it sits right now.
I'm super competitive at everything that i do, but I also understand where my skill level falls in line with the front runners mentioned above. I personally am trying super hard to get promoted to the GT3 class for the next season cause that's where the fastest cars are (notice I didn't say the fastest drivers - Scudbot and soup for example in gt4's today were unbelievably quick)
You have to remember, racing is trying to win, as much as it is to be a little quicker than u were the last lap, and getting in and having a go. Winning shouldn't be the priority.
That's what I love about this place. Yeah, we all want to win, but everyone has a go.

I agree with having a pro and pro/am class but my concern is the constant lapping in any race if i was in a lower class.
Some of our clan members get lapped even in the same class car so where is the encouragement to race on the same track with people that are going to lap them multiple times a race??
Maybe running 2 servers is a better idea, same class cars at the same track, same day, same time, how ever 2 different classes being run with the movement of the winner/loser at the end of the season.
I really wanted to take a run at the pro/am this season but the timing does not work for me unfortunately.

I understand what you mean, Java, about an Aston GT4 series. That's exactly how I felt. But, not everyone shows up for every race. Consistency is the key to winning. Show up, earn as many points as you can, & TKR FTW!

Yeah totally agree with this. We can have two classes of racers, that's fine, but we need enough people. right now we only have enough to populate one server. As more join, we can divide it up into two.

Servers cant hold 40-50 guys right now, I wish it did. If we want more people to race with us, we need to recruit more. I know im to blame for playing CSGO 50% of the time and I apologize, I will get back on pcars on a daily basis, but its up to everyone to recruit and get more people. The last time I saw a full server where people were waiting to get in was during season 2-3, Clios at donington park. For everything else that has been discussed, Wedge said basically verbatim of what I was going to type.

I do like the mixed class racing but I think for as few people we have that having two classes means that there is less overall competition in each individual class. Being the Charles Pic of the GT3 class means that I have nobody to compete with since I'm getting lapped by the GT3 in front of me.
