    Space Anyone have cox internet?

    Does anyone here have experience with cox internet? I like them because they are the fastest cable Internet and I think only one in Vegas. The issue I have is how inconsistent the Internet has been for the past few months. I'll peak at 75 Mbps and then it'll drop down to literally kilobytes at times. We changed our router and haven't changed our modem. Now the issue after cox pushed a firmware update to our modem, the Internet will go out from 8 am till around 10 am for the past two weeks. Wondering if anyone else has had these issues with them. I am calling them again later today. They said the issue was a wire on our end but so happens that it goes out at the same time every day.

    75Mbps?! Holy... bytes. I recently upgraded to 16Mbps and I was so happy with it, and there you are, with your 75Mbps connection. At least it isn't stable, so no connection is perfect, eh? :)

    Anyways, jokes aside, about the issue (warning: I'm not an expert on network connection thingies, just some ideas);

    Is your modem capable of up to 75Mbps speeds? If not, maybe it is actually the modem? Also, about the wire thing, if you still have old wires they might not support a stable/faster connection (and probably can burn out, causing a fire, if it comes to that).

    About the consistent downtime between 8AM and 10AM, maybe it is actually your ISP cutting the connection because they are upgrading some things around your neighborhood? That downtime thing doesn't seem normal to me. If it was caused by a wire, it would go out randomly, wouldn't it? Maaaybe they are purposely cutting it to save energy or to give business/high use areas more traffic? Also, can you downgrade the firmware on your modem and test if that fixes it? Maybe the firmware they updated isn't that complete yet and not running stable?

    Anyways, I hope it gets fixed one way or another, and I hope your ISP cares about its customers to help with fixing the issue. Not having a stable connection is an awful thing.

    I've had cox for 5yrs now.4 of them sucked...mostly for cable reasons. My internet has been golden,but the tv service blows.We have 350' of bad cable on our street that is currently supplanted by a 400' temp line. It doesn't help the tv much..however,Many in town have issue w/Cox web. Starters

    Check modem speeds
    check computer for issues. CCleaner,Malwarebytes,Defrag system.
    Call cox,again. Tell them You are being throttled "Shut down' from this time to this time,and why.

    It sounds like You have a large user in the "line' ahead of You. Put it this way. Your web connection is a straw. Depending on how many people "drink' from that straw,you'll get alot,or a little of the drink within. Urge them to check "upline' from You to find out if there's a huge user above you.

    go to twitter,start an acct if You dont have one,and go to @coxcommunications. Complain loudly/often. Their customer service 2nd tier monitors that account,and will respond,quickly usually

    good luck

    Thanks guys. I reset everything and they pushed another firmware update again and seems fine for now. Hoping it stays like this. I know they are rolling out their gig Internet but I'm not sure if that is the reason. When you do call it seems to help for atleast a month it seems then it goes down again. The problem I see is there is no competition in Vegas with cox. The next Internet provider we have is century link and they can only give us 3mbps which is too slow for us and would be too unreliable even compared to our random outages.

    Yeah, I heard that in America ISPs can do whatever they want because of the lack of competitors in the area, and some of them can really use that power to do bad things. Good luck with them, I hope they are the good kind. At least they solved this problem, maybe they will help you again if the problem comes back? I hope...
