Pcgames 144hz Monitor or Curved Monitor

Hey guys, I'm thinking on buying a new monitor for "gaming" and design.
I usually don't care if the monitor is 60 hz but a lot of people told me that 144hz really worth it, and I'm thinking to buy one of those:

If you've had any problem with one of those, let me know.

I've never used a curved monitor before but not sure Id like one for FPS games. I switched from 60hz to 144hz last year and absolutely love it. Definitely much smoother if you can push your games to 144fps. This is the one I own: http://gaming.benq.com/gaming-monitor/xl2411z

I own a 120hz monitor and I can never go back to 60hz.

Before you upgrade the monitor though, make sure your games can make use of it. A 144hz monitor won't be worth it if you can only run games at 40fps, for example. I think the picture will look slightly better, but it wouldn't be worth it overall to me.

Also, not a fan of curved monitors or tvs.

Get the 144hz monitor, I feel like a curved monitor is just a fad in my opinion.

Between the two you listed, the 144hz one is better quality. Curve at 27" doesn't matter.

Defo 144Hz. It might be worth getting a G sync / Free sync display also, though you cant use ULMB if you have it on. If your Gpu is powerful enough to lock all your games at 144fps minimum then forget about G sync or Free sync. I've heard they are less useful at 60hz+ monitors but i'm not too sure... maybe someone else knows.

My son has a 144 Hz monitor and I have a 60, both 24 inches. We sit in the same room when we game and, maybe it's my 45 year old eyes, I cannot really tell the difference 99% of the time. If I were replacing a failed monitor I would probably spend the extra to get a 120 or 144 but I would not replace a working monitor just to get the higher refresh rate. Either way, I would not get a curved one.

Piggybacking off of this. My monitor is the Asus VG248QE, which is the one my father is referring to. I love it. I agree on not going for curved, but if you can go for 144hz with either Gsync or Freesync depending on your GPU.

I recently got a 1440p/144hz monitor as an upgrade from 1080p/60hz. Frames make a huge difference for me. Especially playing games like BF4, CS:GO, and even PCars. They absolutely shine.

However, if you have a strong GPU setup (980 Ti or SLI, or planning on 1080) I would hold off for 4k/120 or 144hz if you have the money. They will be coming around in the next year or so.

I have a 4k 60Hz G sync monitor, powered by 980Ti SLI, when i first got this monitor i was really torn between 1440p 144Hz and 4k 60Hz. obv i went with 4k 60Hz, and i'm gonna get two 1080Tis when they come out, or the new titan whenever it comes out.
While 4k 120Hz monitors will start appearing soon after the 1080 comes out (DP 1.4) But the pricing is going to be pretty horrendous i think for a while.. I think it will be a couple more years before 4k 120Hz becomes a viable option for people with a monitor budget of a grand or less.

    I don't even think you will need 2 1080's for 60FPS 4K.

1 1080 should be okay then, if you have it liquid cooled and go for an agressive overclock you can probably make do with one even at ultra.

144Hz is the better option if your PC can push frame rates that high. Even 100FPS is pretty good.

Curved is more of a gimmick. I would only consider curved monitors that meet both following conditions:
    1. 120Hz or higher
    2. 21:9 ultra wide aspect ratio. A 1920x1080 curved display just does not make sense to me.
