    Default GTX 1080 vs 980TI benchmarks

    Unless anyone out there does not watch Tek Syn I thought these numbers were gonna be a little less great when none partners started posting reviews, still a HUGE step up for my card and prolly alot of others, but maybe not you 980Ti guys.

    DOOM: 17.2%
    SOMA: 1.6%
    Witcher 3 @4k: 17.4%
    @1080p: 20.8%
    3D Firestrike Ultra 4k: 22.6%
    @1080p: 27.9%
    Valley @4k: 18.8%
    @1080p: 11.7%
    158.7
    17.6% average increase including Soma
    19.6% average increase without (because outlier)

    Yea but i guess a regular gtx980 or a older card maybe a great investment, like me my 780tis will be a huge increase for me. But still not the 50% or twice the power as advertised all the way around. Oh and that was a overclocked gtx1080 btw.

    A upgrade would be a great investment i meant, maybe not for gtx980ti folks though.

    The 1080 isn't gonna beat out twin 980Ti's, but it will certainly beat a Single 980 or 970. The only thing it may beat Twin or Single 980Ti in is DX12.

    IMHO I think if you want to upgrade? Wait for a better version of the 10xx Series.

    I'll bet the 1080ti (single) will beat the 980Ti in SLI. But, I don't have 600 - 700 USD to play with. I'll be going with either SLI 970's or a single 1070. Maybe even a Dual Non SLI setup (970 for PhysX and 1070 main.)

    Keep in mind a lot of these benchmarks are 1080 Stock VS 980ti Stock, the current numbers are actually closer than advertised/benchmarked.

    These benchmarks are from a 1080 overclocked, not a TI by any means but it was a overclocked 1080.

    Any word of a price drop for 980 Ti's yet? Been waiting to build a new PC, based off the benchmarking, I will just go with a single 980 Ti, and I would not like to wait a year or so for a 1080 Ti or such.

    And this is the first 1080 I've seen for sale (thou it's not actually up yet) at $686.01 + free shipping

    Going with a 980 Ti since it's older, mature driver base, already 3rd party modded/rigged (the ACX 2.0 and other stuff) while the 1080 will take a few months before it has anything good, and while it is better; it not that much better... and I don't want to wait for a 1080 Ti or for the 1080 to get the 3rd party mods/rigs onto it.
