Where should I begin? Oh ya.
If you don't remember, I'm Carter. Or at least it has felt like that long. I would of never thought that a couple weeks ago, when our family was told, "a couple weeks," that I would still be living at Grandma's house. Our house, that is still being built, is obviously not finished yet. Stupid me thought, 'it's only gonna be a couple weeks,' and decided to pack my wheel and computer. Sucks that I cannot race, although I don't think anyone wants me to use a mouse and keyboard. I should be able to get back on (HOPEFULLY) in about another week or so, missing the teamspeak and everyone in it. Anyways, if that didn't make sense...
"Carter, is this another one of your f***ing league ideas again?!?!?!"
"Why yes, yes it is"
So ya, I thought of once again, another idea for a league. Just got back from a weekend at Road America, which held the SCCA stuff this weekend, including the Battery Tender Global MX-5 Cup Series, which I talked to Glenn McGee for a little bit. It was cool because he was flying the whole weekend and took 6th and 5th. Back to the point, I decided that it would be cool to do a little something based off of the SCCA Majors Tour. So I came up with the Sports Car Club of iRacing, and here's how it will work (if this doesn't confuse you);
1. Car Registration
In the Majors Tour, there are roughly 8 main series, which many of them can be combined incase of a low registration or split into more group because over a lot of registrations (Hopefully!). The eight series are:
-Formula Ford, Formula Vee, Formula 500
-Spec Racer Ford
-Prototype 2, Formula Enterprise, Formula Mazda (Can be combined with 7)
-E Prod, F Prod, H Prod, GT Lite
-Touring 2, Touring 3, Touring 4, Super Touring Lite, Super Touring Under, B Spec (Can be combined with 8)
-Prototype 1, Formula Atlantic, Formula B, Formula Continental (Can be combined with 4)
-GT1, GT2, GT3, Touring 1, American Sedan (Can be combined with 6)
Obviously, iRacing does not provide every single car that was used during that weekend, and it only allows 5 different cars on track, so I kinda had to compromise.
-Spec Miata = Mazda Cup circa 2015
-Formula Ford, Formula Vee, Formula 500 = Just the Skip Barber-Singleclass
-Spec Racer Ford = Spec Racer Ford
-Prototype 2, Formula Enterprise, Formula Mazda (Can be combined with 7) = Radical, Star Mazda
-E Prod, F Prod, H Prod, GT Lite = Not going to run this one because iRacing doesn't have many of these different cars
-Touring 2, Touring 3, Touring 4, Super Touring Lite, Super Touring Under, B Spec (Can be combined with 8) = Ford Mustang, Global Mazda MX-5, Pontiac Solstice, Kia, Jetta, No B spec
-Prototype 1, Formula Atlantic, Formula B, Formula Continental (Can be combined with 4) = HPD, Formula Renault 2.0 (Hopefully the 3.5 can join soon)
-GT1, GT2, GT3, Touring 1, American Sedan (Can be combined with 6) = Corvette C6.R, Ford GT2, BMW Z4, Ruf C Spec, Cadillac
What I am most likely gonna do is have a league website where you have to sign up in advance with your car, number, color of car, and main sponsor. I will allow if you really wanted to sign up for everyone of the 7 series. If there is not a lot of people signed up, the combining of series will happen, as long as there aren't all of the classes taken by someone.
2. Tracks and Regions
The SCCA major tour is uniquely split into different regions with different events inside the reigons, followed by the championship "Runoffs" which crown the winner. The SCCA regions are:
All of which include many different race tracks inside North America. iRacing does not exactly have all the track in the Majors schedule, so I decided to combine the North and Mid-States to Central and came up with a schedule like this:
-Homestead Road Course B
-Road Atlanta Full
-VIRginia International Raceway Full
-Summit Point Full
-Watkins Glen Boot
-New Jersey Motorsports Park Thunderbolt
-Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road/Bike (TBD)*
-Road America Full (From North)
-Circuit of the Americas GP*
-Gateway Motorsports Park Road (From North)
-Sonoma IRL/Long (TBD)*
-Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca*
-Auto Club Competition
-Phoenix circa 2008 Road Course*
*Not on Majors schedule
Like the cars, you are allowed to sign up for different races in each region, or you can just focus on one region. The Runoffs at the end of the season will be open to everyone, and will be selected randomly from the 16 tracks. I will plan on putting up 30 minute practices on hosted on Wednesday and Thursday. I would have to screw around with the league setting, but if they allow for me to do just a race and I put where everyone starts, the schedule will go like this:
30 minute practice followed by a 30 minute qualy.
30 minute qualy, and then later a 25 minute race.
Lapped race according to how many could get done in 35 minutes and max time of 50 minute; whichever comes first.
If iRacing does not like the separate sessions like that, then I have a backup plan:
1 hour practice
30 minute qualy followed by the 25 minute race
30 minute qualy followed by the lapped race according to how many could get done in 35 minutes and max time of 50 minutes; whichever comes first.
I will have to screw around with some settings and see what would be right. Each of the series would have these sessions each day.
3. Points and Ruling
After each race, points are paid out as follows: 25, 21, 18, 17, 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1. During the races, I will attempt to monitor them, but I know that I will not be there for every single race, so I may need someone to help with it once the league starts going. I may have a rulebook, but the iRacing rules will apply at all times. There will be no incident limit, but if someone gets to a great amount of incidents, they will be warned!
Once the league starts, the Runoffs will be open to all people, but once, and hopefully not if, the league gets to big for that amount of cars on track, there will have to be some restrictions:
1. You will of had to participate in at least 3 different weekends and 3 RACES. You must of also complete at least one of the following
a. Place in the top 50% in your class
b. Achieve a certain amount of points: AS – 77 pts, FE – 87 pts, GT3 – 88 pts, SRF3 – 55 pts, STL – 32 pts, STU – 50 pts, P1 – 64 pts, T1 – 46 pts, FA – 63 pts, P2 – 50 pts, T2 – 101 pts, GT1 – 51 pts, SM – 19 pts, T3 – 85 pts, GT2 – 48 pts, SRF – 28 pts, T4 – 95 pts (http://cdn.growassets.net/user_files...pdf?1463756348)
Once Runoff time, you may choose only 2 cars max to run in if you reached the criteria. The winner of the Runoffs per series will be crowned Champion and if the league gets popular enough, I may throw in a cash reward
If you guys have any other questions that I may of not answered when on barfed on this forum, go ahead and ask. I would REALLY like to start up a league, and it would help pass the time at Grandma's!
