GTX 970 model video cards are 100% refundable if purchased through Amazon

Users on Reddit’s PC forums are reporting that the online retailer is still offering a 20 percent refund on at least some GTX 970 purchases, similar to what it offered users in February 2015

Zed my friend, let me break it down so you don't get to much mixed information. You have 4 options as i know right now.

Option #1. If you purchased through Amazon, you can get a 100% refund of you original purchase price as me and Jink have shown through our chat transcripts. The 20% that you're reading about are customers settling for that amount because that is what Amazon probably offered initially not knowing they can get all their money back. But according to consumer law, you are entitled to 100% refund because the product was falsely advertised and does not work as advertised. Thus misleading the consumer.

Option #2. If you Purchased through Newegg, I am reading that they are giving 10% back.

Option #3. If you decided to keep the card as is, you can get $30 from Nvidia when they finish with the CAL

Option #4. You do nothing and get nothing.

That means for every card they refund 100% on and pay for return shipping to Amazon they can possibly resell (unless it's ancient and dirty and then not worth it because you're not sure how hard it's been abused) for far less than they paid wholesale for it less the $30 Nvidia might credit them. On top of that they pay the CSA's and the FC employees to handle the card on it's way in and back out if they do sell it again.

Amazon will send them back to the manufacturer as defects and replace with another product.

I purchased mine through Newegg. They will be awarding $30 because of the class action lawsuit. I bought 2 of them, do you know if I will get $60?

I think it's more the principal of the whole thing rather than the actual performance hit. Kind of like a friend of mine that got fired from stealing a few cents from a store he worked at. It wasn't the fact that he stole and that the store lost a bit of money, it was the fact that he knowingly was dishonest about it, same applies to Nvidia in this case to me. The fact that the 970 is a great card is irrelevant in this case when Nvidia still attempted to mislead customers everywhere.

UGH I'm kicking myself for buying mine from Newegg and not Amazon :(

No, since it's been so long since most were purchased from the Manufacturers EVGA,PNY, Etc and are well out of warranty in addition to the fact that Nvidia will be directly reimbursing customers Amazon will take a hit.

I don't always feel it's necessary to force good customer service for a company that's not actually responsible for my issue to take a hit for me, but that's just me.

Note: I spent 10 years at Amazon my wife and two kids both work there, I know that those cards will most likely end up on a pallet with other damaged electronics and get sold for pennies on the dollar to a secondary market to test refurb and sell on ebay and amazon

I am sure that Amazon will pursue reimbursement because they were also mislead into falsely advertising NVIDIA's product causing them to take financial damage.

Unfortunately, I bought mine threw Newegg also. I got an email from them stating they will be refunding $30 for every 970 purchased soon. I'm supposed to wait for another email from them to start the process and haven't received that one yet. I hope they decide to forward the full purchase price towards another product, that'd be awesome.
