    Lots of War Thunder players who want navy have settled for World of Warships, and it hasn't been satisfying to them. Wargaming titles are basically arcade only War Thunder modes (with the exeption of no aircraft being in WoT) and even WoT has taken after War Thunder with multiple respawns, aircraft and artillery call ins. WoWS is very centered around RNG, and you end up with a split in ships between those that get into the action and those that sit in the back getting ranging shots. War Thunder has always delivered realistic yet fun gameplay, and they are trying to tackle not only implementing ships into an aircraft simulator game, but also how to make large ships realistic and fun. Keep in mind they haven't always delivered everything at once (IE: 4 tanks making up the British Ground Forces, 2 of them being rearmed American tanks) And everyone is complaining about ships not being added when they haven't even played them, or seen gameplay of, because the closed beta hasn't even begun!

    Looks like fun, first time for me actually wanting to buy something to get into beta. Armored river boats were actually kind of small compared to the Gaijin teaser.

    I'm cautious, it will be small and hopefully not as campy as World of Warships. I don't know how they will play major units and I hope to see E-Boats.

    Ok so firstly..ffs who says torpedo boats and river gunships is all its gonna be

    Secondly like all the others there will be tier based ships i see no reason for them to change from this method for ships

    Thirdly if you can manage to manually hit my torpedo boat with a 30 inch gun then you are better than me......

    Stop with all the negative bs wow is crap end of they are all crap air tank and sea personally i will wait and see before i make a chump of myself by slagging off summat i have no idea about what it will be like...

    Posts by Gaijin staff, and the CEO himself confirm that PT boats and torpedo boats will be the ONLY player-controlled ships (with the slight possibility of small destroyers at the end of tier V, in the far future).

    30 inch guns do not exist. Secondary armaments of a warship are more than capable of disabling/destroying a boat in a hit or two. Aircraft will also have no trouble with finding, and destroying one with ease.

    While it is true that we don't quite know what we're getting yet, people have the right to be annoyed. The naval portion of WT has been in development for 4 years, so hopefully you can understand the community's frustration when this is what they deliver.

    Actually. I read a recent post (day after the trailer came out.) and they were quick to add that depending on the user comments and thoughts from the beta. They will most likely add larger ships aswell. But for now focus on smaller ones.

    WICH I'M FINE WITH... My thought all along have been "Why not both?"
    Think of a the arcade map "Lost Base" or whatever its called. A base in the middle of an island group. Tanks in the middle. Aircraft above. Ships supporting from the river. (with cap zones for tanks being over the islands mainland and 1-2 points in the water next to the island for the boats to support AND help cap aswell.

    And then some objectives for larger ships outside the island group aswell.

    First of all, if you went to WoWs and expected to play a ship simulator you are not smart, I would like to think that, in general, people do some kind of reseach before getting involved in any game. And this is my personal opinion, but I think playing ships in a realistic mode where you can get 1 shot(which can happen in wows as well by causing a detonation on enemy) just because is "realistic" is not fun. It's true that WoWs does have rng in it, but I dont think is centered around it, I don't know how much experience you have in the game, but I will tell you mine with over 1500 battles. Rng is a factor in a long list of things you have to consider when playing WoWs(back then the % of hits in naval battles, considering all the variables, was no more than 5% most of the times) at the end of the day is just a game. About the split in ships, I think criticizing that is like criticizing that one fighter that goes to orbit in WT and stays up there the entire match, yeah he may not die and get a couple of kills, but is he really doing anything worth for the team? He is just exploiting his good climbing rate. Also, I think that Wargaming is a much better company than gaijin, their devs actually hear feedback from their players and try implement, to a logical extent, the feedback that is given to them, hence the public tests and a much more consistency on updates among other things.

    I'm hopeful for ships, its what I love about games I played like 600 plus hours of Navyfield wayy back when lol. So yeah I would LOVE to have another type of naval game. I really would prefer they separate out BB from Torpedo boats and FF class ships, like navy field had blitzkreigs which were just smaller ship types in a free for all, but the Grand Battles as they were called were a set amount of people made teams that consisted of so many BB so many CV so many CA and CL and SS, and DD didn't really have too much of a limit because they were cannon fodder so they hunted ss and tried to piss off smaller CL and DD.

    I'm just happy that warthunder doesn't try to create "a (more realistic) version of world of warships" and instead make something else
    I didn't liked World of warships at all, it feels slow and boring to me, so as far as I can tell, I'm looking forward to try it out
    If they want to implement big ships like world of warships, I think they will have to make a different gamemode within warthunder just for those, similar to enduring battles, were u can expect a different pace of gameplay
    Anyway let's see what the CBT and later developments bring, before we make our (final) judgement

    I remember when it was just skies and planes and for me it was better then .. Tanks stopped the focus of the snail on developing the air game ... which is nearly the same format now as it was 2 years ago ... Tank will suffer the same focus shift when the navy appears. I just wish the snail could fix what is broken before adding another prototype section to the game.

    But then I just fly and have no interest in Tanks or water tanks their ACMs just dont cut it.

    Played NF for years, up until they added subs where I dropped off and eventually left the game.

    If they stick to riverboats, Frigates & DDs they won't be all that interesting, Id like them to atleast work up to CA.
