I'd recommend to got with GTX 1060 6GB version.

3GB is just too little for this card. Games are already using over 3 GB and this GPU is capable to handle games that use more than 3 GB VRAM.

6GB 1060 is the only way to go.

Slightly more expensive for a much higher quality PSU.

550w gold should be plenty even for an upgrade later on, if you have the money a 650w or 700w would be perfect but your current choice should work

550w is a good choice for that card and for future cards. I'm running a 650w with a 1080 FTW + 6700K and haven't had any problems. New GPU's will continue to be more power efficient as time goes on, so anything over 700w would definitely be overkill, unless you want to do an SLI setup or the like. As for the card itself, i would recommend the 6GB version over the 3. Games are already using that much Vram and are only getting bigger. And like AOD_ZedZedski said, this card is able to take advantage of more than 3GB.

That PSU is absolutely fantastic, seasonic makes great stuff.

But, there are many much cheaper options that are plenty reliable. For example, you can pick up a corsair 600w for <$50 on newegg.
I'd recommend getting a cheaper PSU and putting the extra cash into your GPU so you can grab a cheap 1070 or a better 1060.

The thing about power supplies is if you buy a good one now you don't have to worry about it taking a dump on you and taking your system out with it. Honestly at this point I would hunt for the cheapest EVGA or Corsair PSU you can find that has 10 year warranty (some seasonic have 7 years I believe) . Some of those budget units have only 3 year warranty...I would assume the reason they don't warranty those 10 years is the MTBF is alot lower than the ones that cost $80 usd+. Also not sure what the price was at original post time, but it shows it being $117 now. My advice, don't skimp, spent between $80-100 or slightly more, if you buy a good one (no you don't have to buy a $200+ monster) It will last multiple builds.

they have deals on the seasonic in Canada right now. goin with that. also, for $10 more i can get a seasonic 650w with crossfire/sli :)

as for the videocard i dont need 6gb as im not running 1440p/4k or w.e

    was considering a 470 rx 4gb or a 1060 3gb :)

    EVGA 550W Modular Gold SuperNOVA

its tier 1. its also 100w less then the seasonic, but i dont plan on using SLi

    470 RX MSI 4GB

If you are going for the RX 470, don't. The 1050Ti is more powerful, and has Overclock capabilities higher than the 470.
