Geekout Best Gaming Headset and Keyboards?

    Hey everyone!

I currently have a Corsair 1500 headset which is super comfortable but people I talk to keep complaining that my mic cuts in and out, and now the headphones have started to "pop" at me when I listen to music. What are some of the best headsets out there? I'm a huge fan of crystal clear audio quality and I talk a lot online so something that comes through clean and not broken up is good :) Any suggestions for a headset around the $100 or less range?

Also, my logitech g15 keyboard is finally starting to die. The numberpad has gone and certain keys are not working right any more so I want to get a new gaming keyboard. I don't really use programmable keys all that often but I love backlighting. Any recommendations for a keyboard under $150?

    Thanks!

NONE!!! If you are audiophile like me then forget those gaming headsets. Get decent Headphones, Audio Interface and a decent Mic.

I picked up this mic with stand and audio interface from Amazon and the quality is fantastic:
    https://www.amazon.com/Neewer-Profes...=neewer+nw-700

    https://www.amazon.com/Steinberg-UR2...nberg+ur22mkii

Not only I get a fantastic quality while just talking on TS but also it allows me to record and broadcast video's with a very decent quality.

As for headphones, any decent headphones will do. I would recommend these but they are very pricey but the quality is out of this world:
    https://www.amazon.com/Philips-A5Pro...lips+A5PRO+PRO

However, if your current headsets are still ok and you only need a mic then get an Audio Interface and a Mic with an XLR connector. You will not regret that decision not every moment. You can find decent Audio Interfaces under $100 on Amazon.
Like this one is quite decent and I was considering to get this one myself:

For keyboards, I have a Corsair K70 and I love it. A few media buttons and your choice of switches and colors for around $120. They also have one with a rainbow of colors for about $150.

Headphone wise the Kraken Pros are ok. Im not an audiophile person so take that with a grain of salt lol. but for $70ish USD they are pretty good. keyboard wise I use a logitech g810 I think. Its about $130 USD. it uses logitechs Romer G switches which Ive only use them and Cherry Reds but they arent as clicky as red nor as loud. A bit softer I guess you would say. I like it though. Another one you might look at is Das Keyboard has a gaming keyboard now. ITs pretty plain looking except the front is a metal faceplate which you can take off and put another one on. It has a usb passthrough on it - 3.0 I think and a mic and headphone pass through as well. Its $130. I never used it , I just looked into getting it and went logitech instead.

They are utter garbage. I have one and desperately want to sell them. The vocals are so washed out, bass is too high. On flat equalizer they sound like sh*t. You need to use a decent audio interface and an equalizer to get some sort of sense out of them. Here are my equalizer settings for Razer Kraken Pro 2015 edition.
Take a look how much Bass I had to reduce and look on the mid part. Now if I put all that on a flat default equalizer the sound is so horrible. I can't stand listening to that garbage. So, if you don't use any equalizer then forget about them, unless you are not used to a good quality sound they might be good for you. Otherwise, stay away from this garbage.

Check out the Logitech G610 and G910. I came from a G15 an I really like the G610 I bought.

I think you'd like it unless you need all the macro keys

The Bass is not the main issue in these headphones. The main issue is that on flat equalizer they sound like in a toilet or big bathroom. It's just horrible. A $50 Sony Headphones are probably x10 better than this shit.
These Sony headphones that I bought in 2001 sound x10 better than this Razer shit:

    Thanks for your suggestions everyone!

@Zed: Yes, that microphone/headphone setup would be ideal but it's well beyond my budget. Also I'm in Canada so the prices are insanely different. Those headphones you showed me are $800 on Amazon.ca although I'm sure I could find them cheaper if I did some digging
    $800: That microphone
    $200: That interface

My headphones are popping at me so I need a different solution, and unfortunately since I am also replacing mouse, keyboard, just bought a new rig, and now need to change out the headphones my budget is limited to $100 (ideal) to $150 (max) range. Although I do appreciate good sound, I think you have me +1 on the audiophile thing (I'm not as hardcore haha) - what do you think about the mod mic? I was thinking about pairing that with these or these (although they are about $50 above budget already + mic spend so not so great on my wallet)or else a pair of these. What's your take? Think I could get into a solution that would meet my budget or should I buy something on the cheap for now and save up?

@Duffman: Do you have much experience with the difference between Cherry Blue/Brown/Red? People are forever complaining that my G15 keyboard is really loud (which it is) so I would love to get something quite a lot quieter, but not at the expense of notable gaming speed/quality. Any advice?

@Boba: Yes I was looking at the G105, G610, and G710. I would love to explore more options than just logitech but I've basically been using their gaming mice and keyboards since 2000 so I'm kinda locked in, but if there is something better I'm open to it and don't want to miss out, right?

Sorry, I can't edit my post any more so I have to double-post.

@Zed a lot of my friends also recommend these. Thoughts?

Hey, I'm from Canada too and I can assure that you were looking at wrong link.

Microphone that I bought was $49 FREE SHIPPING from Amazon Prime: https://www.amazon.ca/Neewer-Profess...eywords=neewer It also works without Audio Interface and comes with cable XLR to 3.5mm, so you can connect to any onboard soundcard.
As for audio interface, you could go with other options. Pretty much almost any audio interface will be much better than any Onboard Soundcard on your motherboard.
So, this one is a good one in range $100 - $150. I was considering it before I made a final move with Steinberg:
    PreSonus: https://www.amazon.ca/PreSonus-Audio...ords=focusrite

Something on the budget side: https://www.amazon.ca/Behringer-UM2-...ords=focusrite

The one that I bought is absolutely awesome, I hear sounds in game that I've never ever heard before with my onboard soundcard: https://www.amazon.ca/Steinberg-UR22...face+steinberg

As for headphones, AudioTechnica is a very good brand. So the ones you linked should be great.

As for microphone, I really suggest to get Audio Interface + Mic with XLR connector. You will never regret that purchase. But if you don't want to spend that little extra on Audio Interface and good Mic then this USB Mic is very decent too: https://www.amazon.ca/Blue-Microphon...words=snowball and look it's on sale for $49.88 on Amazon Prime now.

Btw, a very good Mechanical keyboard in your budget: https://www.amazon.ca/Corsair-STRAFE...rsair+keyboard Also, it's not that loud. I tried it at Canada Computers store the other day http://www.canadacomputers.com/ I shop there regularly since they have very good deals there.

And if you want to hear the potential quality of that Mic from NEEWER, here is a great video that can show you its capabilities. For $49 you can't go wrong with that.

That's rediculously good for how cheap it is! I might consider picking one up after I get some money. Albiet, I don't have an Audio Interface, and that one for >100 Bucks is a little out of my range...

That mic comes with XLR to 3.5mm cable, so you can connect to any onboard soundcard but for best quality Audio Interface is required.

you can pick up under $100 other Audio Interfaces. It still will be better than any onboard soundcard. It also depends on what you are intented to do. I picked Steinberg cause for the money it can deliver highest quality in that price range and has better amps and built quality is all metal.

In other words, with Audio Interface you will not have hisses and disses in the mic and your headphones and speakers will sound much better and cleaner.

Yeah that mic is great quality but to be honest i dont know that i want a windscreen in front of my face while gaming. I think I'm going to go with the HyperX Cloud II.

Still a toss-up on the keyboard.

It doesn't have to be in front of your face. It's a condenser microphone and picks up sound great. Mine is on the side about 30cm away from me.

You could also get his USB mic. It's also a very good one and picks up sound very well. Some of guys on TS have it and the quality is fantastic. https://www.amazon.ca/Blue-Microphon...words=snowball

It won't need to be in your face. It's a Condenser Mic, so it has some pretty good range to pull audio from.

The blue's have an audible click where the red is a smooth keypress and the only sound comes from bottoming the keys out. I haven't used browns before but supposedly they're somewhere in between the two. I'd go for either the brown or red; personal preference.
