    Default Audio Crack

    Hi all,

    Me again :)

I have a Corsair 1500 7.1 digital surround headset. I noticed a static crack in my headphones much like when your computer turns on and you hear a crack sound. Only I hear it any time audio is coming through. It's very noticeable on loud tracks or full bands, less so with quieter songs/ solo artists, and I hear it only from time to time via Teamspeak chat.

So I bought a Hyper X Cloud II assuming that the problem was my Corsair 1500. Low and behold, the Cloud II has the same (albeit less noticeable) issue.

Both headsets are USB. I've tried a variety of USB ports. I cannot replicate the issue when using either of the headsets on my laptop.

    Now what?

    Thanks for your help! :)

That explains a lot already. Your laptop must have bad motherboard that has bad isolated USB channel on the board. USB must be getting some sort of distortion and since your headphones are USB then I guess the only bet for you is to get some sort of external soundcard. That's why I always buy Analog headphones and run them through soundcard.

Sorry I wasnt clear. This is on my desktop computer that I am having the crack, but testing on my laptop was fine. I've tried different USB ports with both headsets on my old and new desktop computers and still got the same thing.

    Thanks

What mobo you have? You might have issues with USB in general on your mobo that is causing noise when transferring signal. So, as I said that is why it's always best to buy Analog Headphones or Headsets and connect it through external audio interface for best quality or use onboard sound-card if you are ok with lower quality but still get decent quality over USB headsets with built in audio card.

I use this as my audio interface: https://www.amazon.ca/Steinberg-UR22...ords=steinberg

And connect my Analog Headphones and XLR mic to it and the sound quality is out of this world. No noise, no distortion and I can hear sounds that you can't hear on an on-board sound-card or USB Headsets cause they are simply washed out.

You might need to reinstall your soundcard drivers. Could be corrupted codec or something. Guess you could also check if new mobo drivers are out for your board or if there's a package just for your usb.

Thank you both! Yes Zed you recommended that to me before when I was searching for a headset. It comes down to a dollars thing for me with that so I went with the Cloud II instead, alas it looks like I may have to change things up anyways xD

Good idea Crymic, I hadnt thought of that. Ill give it a whirl.
