It's correct, but it's not right. Unfortunately several months ago the entirety of War Thunder was balanced around armament, and little else. They are starting to get away from this, but aren't there yet.

The tiering was based on arcade where with most planes handling basically then same and usually in giant furballs. Cannons > Plane performance.

In RB\SB, Plane performance usually trumps armament. It is not difficult to take out a b17 withcertain bi-planes and early monoeplanes fast enough to dive in high and fast in the bombers dead zone and rocketl, pilot snipe them, or if your good with the american brits catch em on fire wing tip to wing tip with incendiary. Hurricane one and two with tracer belt (all IT).

Now though the new 1.37 system though the devs said and have started to balance the three modes seperately each plane should or will eventually have its a different battle rating for each mode.

With new system you can expect to be tiering at +/1 "Age" but if player #s are available especially at prime hours.

You'll only get players in planes with battlerating close to yours.

And if not already I'm sure eventually there will be a third layer trying to factor in player "skill" based on some algorithm generated # based on short term stats. ASSSUMING enough players online to take that third layer in to consideration.

So balance should get better as they tweak.

but yeah the mk5 is glass slow as brick with cannons and way over ranked\priced.

The Vb is alright. The Vc? You'd be better off with a IX or XVI.

so you're suggesting getting the next Spitfire in line and going with Tempest for the 4x20mm cannons. They're not 600k at least, they're only 260k. I already have the mk Vb and researched the mk Vc but am seriously considering not buying it.

none of the mk V spitfires are really worth it, but the C least of all.

the later spits and typhoons are worth it. and when they fix the overheating issue of the typhoons that they added in this patch the typhoons will be excellant planes again too.

The tempest is a blast even stock.

I agree. The Spitfire Mark 5's feel like they don't have decent flight models, while the Spit Mark 2 and the Mark 9 are great.

You could always catch it when it has a nice discount applied...that is a good time to buy the more expensive planes IMO.

I'm pretty sure you have to buy the Vb, but not the Vc, but I'm not so positive that I wouldn't have to check.
