Problems with Ventrilo - Post VB-Cable install
I am hoping that someone can help me, not wanting to have to uninstall and re-install vent every time i want to use it. I recently installed vb-cable which is a free alternative to Virtual Audio Cable (VAC). This works fine in most applications but for some reasons Ventrilo now thinks i'm not running a Windows 7 or higher operating system.
Now i opened up vent this morning and thought maybe it was something with vent so i re-installed it and it didn't solve anything. Cleared out the /temp/ folder and then this still didn't solve my issue. After a bit i unchecked the use direct sound and it started working! :O so I was set that entire session, i went out to dinner and come home and low and behold it still seems to be working in test. Yet the button doesn't seem to be letting me talk still, this is quite frustrating and i'm hoping someone can give me some advice.
So some added symptoms:
- Switched key from mouse to cntrl: No effect
- While in a PM i was able to hit the xmit button in window and the user heard me
and now having returned home from work, it works once again ... very strange
