    Icon12 Gaming Rig Gallery!

Okay, so I did some searching on the forums and found that there wasn't a current active thread relating to gaming rigs. So I decided to start one. I also submitted a suggestion for a Rig Gallery sub-forum.

    Requirements are simple:
    1. Have pictures of your computer or desk area.
    2. Please include hardware specifications.
    3. Gaming peripherals. [Optional]

Okay I'll kick this thread off.

Forgot to mention, I also got an extra NAS thats 2TB (toshiba canvio personal cloud) because it was being sold on amazon for $100 due to all of the bad reviews. (good for me since the complaints were all about the horrible software and they never thought to head to the NAS local IP and enable all of the standard NAS functions and not bother with the software, now I have a decent 60-70MB/s read and 37MB/s write NAS thats decent for streaming media

If you can get one for cheap, it is worth it :)

Not, bad maybe a little dust cleaning and a little cable management other than that looks good. :)

NAS are good for just storage, but I run a home file server for storage over the LAN. I need the extra processing power. Dell Power Edge 2850 with 8 gigs of memory. This box is running Windows Server 2008 Data Center Edition. (ty work for the free copy of windows server lmao)

For my proper NAS system , it uses 8GB RAM, AMD Phenom II x2 550 at 3.8GHz, MSI 870-g45 motherboard, a 160GB 7200RPM hard drive for the OS, and 3x 2TB 7200RPM WD black drives

the low powered 2TB toshiba NAS is simply for DLNA related stuff, and low powered downloads of more esoteric stuff, e.g., when a torrent is going extremely slowly (2-4KB/s on a 30+GB torrent), it is better to have a low powered system take care of the download. For my main PC, and high performance NAS build, I will turn them off and use WOL if I do not need to use them for a while, e.g., during vacations or the time in between semesters in college where I will rarely use the VPN

Pretty much just runs a network share for other systems to backup to it (able to saturate a gigabit connection), in addition to 2 virtual machines 1 running untangle (for the openVPN server) and another for a backup minecraft and teamspeak server that gets the files synced over to it using bittorrent sync. If the main server goes down, I run a batch file on the VM to get a backup up in seconds in addition to forcing an update of the DNS :)

grrr Why is the edit time limit so short...

Sadly for the antec 300, it has virtually no areas designed for cable management, so to protect the airflow, I keep most of the cables near the side panel so that the center and the things at the level of the motherboard, can receive airflow.

The next case I get will be the Fractal Design Define XL R2 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811352030 Mainly waiting for a decent discount. (main hopes are for a quieter build so that I will be able to get away without needing noise reduction on my microphone when the gain on the mic is low.

Corsair k70 Vengeance- I'm really proud of this guy. It originally had red LEDs. I replaced them with green ones (5 hours of soldering later) and voila!

Very nice! Clean and simple build! I was actually thinking of going with a NZXT case for my next build. How well has that case held up?

I love this case. It has a lot of room and options. Temperatures are pretty good. I run BF4 on max and my top card gets up to 67C and the bottom is about 60C. There is a lot of room on the back for cable management. So overall pretty happy. A case I'm considering swapping with though is the Thermaltake Core V71. I think it has even better options. I would replace all the fans with green ones to match and paint the HDD bays to match, but it has a lot of potential.

Headphones hang on the monitor, off on the right side of the picture

The wiring looks horrendous but none of them ruin airflow, and the whole side of the case is mesh anyway.
The mini card above the power supply is the sound card, unfortunately that headset broke last week. It sits on top of the computer.

Nice build! I'm shocked at how many people still run optical drives and here I was thinking I was like the only one who had one lol. And where is that green light coming from in the last picture? Green LED strip?

Haha yeah. I still use mine, but that's only because I work on computers as a side job for some extra money and I use it often to backup clients CD's and DVD's etc.

Haha, I guess old technology never goes away entirely. Hell they still use tape drives for backups in the data center I work at.
