Default Better Mic/Cam at decent price.

So the guys and gals in my Firefall division aren't liking me much due to my mic making their ears bleed to I figure it's time to upgrade it since it is about ten years old. So I am looking for a good mic/cam or just a good mic at a decent price like stated above. Just needing the guidance.

    Thanks to those who advise,

I picked up a turtle beach call of duty edition headset(not sure of the model right off hand) for my playstation 3. When my regular headset went belly up I hooked it up to the PC and the quality of the mic and sound was actually better then my dedicated PC one it replaced. Got it for around 70 bucks at Best Buy a year ago.

I used Turtle Beach Ear Force x12 for a while now (8 months) they have held up fairly well so far. The headset has a decent sound quality. The mic is good and clear didn't have any complaints when I used it, but I use a XLR condenser microphone now. I moved into professional audio equipment which is above great quality but very expensive. XD

I got my x12 for $60 USD, but I found it on sale on amazon for $40 USD HERE. Hope this helped.

Well budget isn't quite set yet. Just trying to get a grip on price range and what's out there. Along with some clan input to help guide me in the right direction.

If you want really good vocal quality for the money then the Audio-Technica AT2020 is a extremely good choice, though it fails when dealing with things far out of the human vocal range such as higher pitched instruments or instruments with a very complex sound signature.

    http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica...eywords=at2020

If you need high quality vocals along with good instrument recording then the blue microphone yeti is good http://www.amazon.com/Blue-Microphon...ords=blue+yeti (though compared to the AT2020, you have to get a little bit closer to it to get the radio like voice since even though the capsules are more sensitive and handle a wider frequency range, their smaller size makes it a little harder for them to pick up lower frequencies (e.g.,the sub 60hz bass elements of the vocals at a distance. you can compensate with some EQ but then you will unable to have a webcam chat while performing realtime EQ as it will add some delay to the audio which will make it a little noticeable that the words are not matching the mouth.

If you need a decent budget USB mic that will still have vocal quality beyond what you will get in a headset, then the Audio-Technica ATR2500 is a good choice

and finally, if you just want to get awesome quality for ventrillo, then get the Neumann Solution D :) :)

I will try and keep this short since since a lot of people have already given their input.

If are not happy with your current headphones, I would say get an all in one gaming headset, preferably wireless. Pick your brand and price range.

If you already have a pair of Over the Ear headphones that you are happy with, buy a ModMic.

This is a phenomenal sounding mic that you can add to any pair of nice OTE headphones, making it the best of both worlds; no compromising good sound for you or for those listening to you. The price for the modmic is $50 and is well worth it.

yep, forgot about the modmic, compared to built in headset mics, I have not seen anything that really surpasses the modmic across the board except for the announcer headsets that cost like $600 that you see many sports announcers using (those blow most microphones out of the water though)

While not as good as a similarly priced ATR2500, the modmic is far more convenient as it can simply attach to the side of the headphone. It is also really small and will not get in the way as much.

Here is an audio sample: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dVFK...tailpage#t=206
