    Default new headset

i broke my headset today, Logitech g930. luckily they are only 7 months old and i can return them to best buy. they have been decent but not great. if they allow me to switch, im looking for suggestions. The only thing is they have to come from Best Buy. These 3 seems interesting. but open for other opinion

Honestly I'd go with the Logitech 430, I've been using them for about 6 months now and have no (serious) complaints. The only thing I wish they had is complete noise blocker (the technical name escapes me at the moment) other than that they are a fantastic set of headphones. Sadly I can't tell you how good or bad those listed above are. My only recommendation is to bring an IPod/ musical playback device and try on headsets, you'd want to look for something that has the following, in the order they are listed:

#1 comfort (interchangeable with #2 because this is a preference) will they be comfortable for long gaming sessions?
#2 sound quality (interchangeable with #1 because this is also a preference) does this need explanation?
#3 price (price should not be the deciding factor because like a GPU sound is a very important aspect of any game, would you limit yourself to an average graphics card and only be able to play on a low graphic setting?)

Just my two cents, if you have any questions let me know.

I love my Razer Tiamat 7.1 headset. You will need 7.1 surround sound card or motherboard though. Firefights are amazing with the subwoofers. I have taken advantage of the surround sound to locate the direction of the enemy many times.

Out of the ones you listed, the SteelSeries Siberia V2 will be best, but you can get far better audio quality if you are okay with going with a dedicated pair of headphones and then a separate microphone.

    What is your price range?

Only issue is that is is really hard to find anything good at bestbuy since all of the decent stuff has like a 50% price markup over stores like amazon, and they are not offering price matching on the better items.

e.g., if you could spend around $100-120, you could go with a sennheiser HD558 (if you like a lot of bass, then you will need to increase the bass in your sound settings). http://www.bestbuy.com/site/sennheis...d558&cp=1&lp=1

and in the $150-170 range, the Beyerdynamic - DT 990 series are really good (if you do not plan to use them with any mp3 players or smartphones (unless you have a portable headphone amp)

Keep in mind, for gaming headsets, most of that purchase price is going to branding, style, and target market, and not audio quality, or build quality

    Default new headset

I have the Siberia V2 for 3 years now and love them. Great sound, durable, and COMFORTABLE. Only thing you might want to think about is these are stereo analog only so a good sound card will make a big difference.

If you dont have a good sound card and you like having surround sound so it is easier to pinpoint enemy locations then you are better off with the Sennhiers.

Those PDP ones are garbage. Never heard off them and you are wasting your money on flashy lights.

well, thank you all for the insight and opinions. But best buy will not let me return them, since the headset plastic broke at that ear piece. its not a manufacturing defect/ wiring issue. even though the headset has a 3 year warranty. sigh. so working a way to get a new headset. joy.

Too bad they do not consider intentionally weak designs to be a defect. Generally if you want a high quality device, look for headphones based on designs that have lasted people many years.

For example, there are many people who have had their original AKG K240's for well over 10 years. Any point where a headphone will experience stress, should either be made of metal, or have very thick plastic that is able to flex a little (and not be brittle like some of the cheap plastics used today)
