Happy Memorial Day!
http://i.imgur.com/SQkyHDh.jpg
Today, as you are with your friends and families please take time to remember all those who gave their lives not just for our country but for all countries. Let's remember the men who fought, and died for their country. If you happen by a cemetery today take the time to stop, and pause in front of a hero's grave.
Remember, that while it's great to thank us veterans for serving, please remember that today is an especially painful day for those of us still walking. Today is the day we remember our friends, and brothers who didn't make it home. So instead of a thank you for serving, a much appreciated I'm sorry for those you lost would be more appropriate.
I hope you all have a great day with your friends and family, and everyone is safe today. Happy memorial day to all. And to my brothers whose boots we left behind... I miss you.

Thanks for the post.
Remember Memorial Day is about those that have paid the ultimate price, not about veterans and current service members.
Please take a moment to toast at your backyard/family BBQ, or mention something in your pre-meal prayer about those that have given their lives so that we may remain free and do as we please in this fine country.

thank you for the thoughts on today this is mine. this day reminds me of the men who trained me and the men i have trained and the ones they trained and the many who died either defending each other or defending freedom where it was trying to be killed. we all express things as we wish but today i express memories of all emotions in which to try to explain or express cannot be summed in a few much less one word. this is what it means to me.

I was going to comment earlier but didn't know how to put it in words. I saw a debate open up two weeks ago on some website why is "Happy Memorial Day" a Happy day? A Memorial Day after all is a day of remembrance if i'm correct just like a UK Remembrance Day. But the word Happy just looks out of place. But then I thought again Memorial=Memories, which leads to Happy Memories. so all in all on a Memorial Day you need to think of Happy Memories of a person/people who have died fighting. That is what I have gathered but I still think Happy Memorial Day sounds like Happy New Year, something joyful, whilst really it is not a joyful occasion, it something more serious, passionate and emotional.
I'm not starting a debate but I do feel the day has been rebranded to something it shouldn't have in the media and public.
