I have ATT, and we have the highest possible upgrade in our plan for internet. Unfortunately it sucks. I mean most of the time, less than 1 Mbps of download speed. There must be more options out there. If you got ANY suggestions, please post. even if it upgrades me to just 3 instead of 1.
Unfortunately living rural areas you're limited to whatever is offered at that location, you can always do a bit of research to see what providers offer service to your address by contacting some or just talking to people in your area. Sadly I know what that is like I had to get satellite internet and it was a nightmare I was getting probably around 400kb/s if I was lucky and the service was next to none I could hardly browse or watch youtube videos and paying $90 a month for this garbage.
I think I can get up to like 5 mbs here on sat, but I hear the ping is too much to bear. which as far as ping goes with what I have is actually kinda decent.

It says I have U-verse but u-verse isn't even offered in my area.
I'd see if you can find someone in your area who is on sat to do a speed test and give you the results to see what ping they actually get because when I first moved into the town I currently live in of approx 5,000 people my ping was like about 180 ish but I could still play games just fine, I mean it's not ideal but it was what to expect living far north in Canada. After the years went on this is currently what I am getting now but it still isn't cheap as I pay about $90 for it.

But like I said dig around in your town and see what people have to say about the Satellite internet asking them if the connection is at least stable and consistent because if it is not you may just be better off sticking with what you have currently and then when you decide to move for school or whatever your future holds then you can actually get the service you deserve.

A lot of these small towns are actually taking action in their own hands now. They are actually getting together and funding and creating internet "companies" for their town. They fund the wiring and everything.
