I log onto vent and go down to the WT rooms. I enter a room and i push to talk and vent freezes up and i literally have no clues as to why this is happening!

That sounds like something in Vent is broken. Possibly try reinstalling Ventrillo?
have experienced this recently. Uninstall/re-install did not help. Problem "fixed' after 20min. Random squelch/click noises and loss of comm's during game noted in past 4days,off-on. I think vent had a stroke or something
Also make sure to run Vent in administrator mode.
Also we had some issues recently of being DDosed, so you may have been trying to talk during those.
