What thermal paste do you use??

Title says it all, just curious as to what everyone else uses! Just ordered AS MX4 last night :)

Its entirely preferential, Just dont get something cheap. Personally I use Artic Silver 5. Your going to get *maybe* 1-3C difference depending on what thermal compound you use

There isn't a big enough difference to justify aftermarket/3rd party thermal paste.

I also use the pre-applied stuff because cleaning that off just to apply some myself is annoying and imprecise.

I got a Coolermaster 212 Hyper Evo and it came with a small thing of Thermal Paste. TBH, as long as it's on there, it's gonna do it's job. Though, when I get the chance and a job, i'll probably keep a thing of Arctic Silver 5 around for whenever me or a buddy needs to re-apply to their CPU or GPU.

I also use artic silver. It is amazing how many people don't know how to apply thermal paste correctly though. The reason I know this is I occasionally assist people at home, and some of what I've found is disturbing.

I've seen people use glue instead of heatsink compound - for some reason there is some 'tech' (name used disparagingly) in my area that prefers wood glue (PVA)

My current "ideal" application is as follows
1. Clean all old heatsink compound off processor and heatsink/block surface - I use a combo of alcohol and acetone.
2. Apply some compound, rub it in, buff it off of both heatsink and CPU
3. Apply final amount to CPU - rlarge grain of rice size
4. Place heatsink/block on cpu and torque to spec (or tighten to semi-hand-tight) No need to kill it.

I didn't used to be a fan of thermal pads - now I'm a little less sure. Some of the newest ones aren't all that bad.
