Today is Canada Day
apparently it's celebrated with Poutine,Large amounts of maple syrup and "little people' and I understand there's a nationwide singing of "Blame Canada',the National song, around 7pm,after which a half hour is dedicated to apologizing to the people closest to You for singing out of tune. Please join Me in saying "Happy Canadia Day' to all Canadians!
Correction-After several scathingly polite emails,I have learned that "Blame Canada' is NOT the National Song,it is "oh Canada'.Apologies to all...

Here's a few informative links about Canada Day and the very significant role Canada played in WWII (including being 20% of the D-Day invasion force).

Also on this date in 1863 the 3 day Battle of Gettysburg began and in 1776 The Continental Congress reconvened to finalize and adopt the Declaration of Independence signed on July 4th 1776. And finally, to the best of my knowledge, nothing of significance happened on this date in 1442.
