    Default PC build

i am looking to build a new pc at the end of this month, i have a budget of about £650-700

this is what i was thinking about buying

    Cpu- intel i5 4690 quad core 3.5 GHz 6mb cache socket 1150

    Gpu- strix gtx970 4gb GDDR5 OR evga gtx970 ftw 4gb GDDR5

    mother board- MSI Z97 PC Mate Intel LGA1150 Z97 ATX Motherboard (4x DDR3, 4x USB3.0, 8x USB2.0, GBE, LAN, HDMI, VGA, DVI)

    Psu- corsair cx600w

    ram- hyperx 8GB DDR3

case- Corsair CC-9011041-WW Carbide Series 200R

as you can see i dont have a hard drive or SSD on this build as i dont need one i will be using my old one

compatibility wise i think all the components will work with each other ( please inform me if this build will not work)

let me know what you guys think about it and if you would change any components :)

An easy way to make sure all your parts will work together is to plug them into www.pcpartpicker.com If any discrepancies are found, it will tell you give you an incompatibility message and inform you on the bottom of your list.

Merged the two threads you made. I get that you wanted to get more exposure for better/quicker responses, but making multiple threads about the same thing is redundant.

The only thing I'd change is the PSU. Perhaps Seasonic or EVGA.

I got a new EVGA power supply recently, and it's amazing. Highly recommended.

No incompatibility issues on your build, good job.
Recomend: http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-BRONZE-Co...ords=evga+600w That PSU will last a lot longer and be a bit more trustworthy than the corsair one you have picked out. If you need any more assistance please feel free to contact me with a reply on here or email at [email protected] or Skype at AOD_LongShot_Zor.

Exactly that. OCing, in some cases can mean the difference between maybe 10-15fps or greater if it's a CPU heavy game. Sometimes that number can be increased greatly when used in tandem with an OC'd GPU.

Make sure that if you do OC, you have adequate cooling and airflow. Read up on some guides too on voltages, how to increase clock speed, and test for stability when OCing.

It's entirely up to you if you want to OC or not. That being said, getting a K series is never a bad idea.

I would really recommend the r9 390 over the 970 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9cKZiJw6Pk It performs better for same price

Most of the time when it comes down to choosing between graphics cards, its not just performance that you look at but also the technologies that each card can take advantage of. For instance I will always stay with Nvidia simply because it has access to gsync, which as a gamer is something I want.

lanius424, AMD has freesync; a cheaper alternative that performs just as well if not better in some aspects.

Given your PSU the 970 would be best, the r9 390 runs at almost 50% more wattage.

    970's 148W vs 390s 275W

ESPECIALLY if you are going to OC

I'm not saying that Freesync is better or worse, it's just my personal preference
