    Default DDODS attack

I got ddods attacked by some angry 14 year old on steam. I forgot they can get my ip through making a steam call. Any one can help me counter him? Or do I have to call my isp?

I think you mean ddos (distribute denial of service). There isn't too much you can do beside adjusting your firewall on your router to close certain ports. Otherwise you just got to deal with it or call your ISP if it gets too bad

Does that getting IP from steam work both ways? If it does then get his IP address and report him to his police since I'm sure denial of service attacks are illegal under the computer protection act.
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

And what evidence would he have that, that is the person doing the DDoS? Most DDoS are done by botnets and can't be tracked back to a single person very easily.

Well if you can get written proof through steam... This can be validated by steam if it goes to court ect.

Most ISPs provide dynamic IP addresses, thus you can simply release the WAN DHCP, then disconnect the modem (or turn off the ONT if on fios), then wait a few minutes.

PS the most common reason for someone attempting a DDOS is if you are on an ISP such as comcast, AT&T or others with really bad bandwidth caps.
The ISP meters your data using in their core network and thus it is possible to for example eat into your data cap at 100+mbit/s even if your download speed on only 50mbit/s. If you are on a metered connection, then get the dynamic IP changed now.
