    Getstuff Nvidia or AMD

Hi Guys, well I'm gonna make an Upgrate for my GPU (GT 430) but I don't know what GPU buy.

    Betwen GTX 750 Ti or R9 280x

What do you guys think about it?..

(I don't really care about the graphics, but I care about the FPS)

    My PC:
    AMD FX 6300 3.9 Ghz
    8 GB RAM 1600Mhz
    GeForce Gt 430
    Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3

Personally, I'd recommend getting the Nvidia GTX 750 Ti. I've never been a fan of AMD's graphics cards, though I've never used them either. I've heard they have big problems with power consumption issues and overheating issues.

I second the Nvidia GTX 750 Ti; it's a great card. Whatever you do, avoid the Nvidia GTX 970 and AMD 290X.

    Default Nvidia or AMD

comparing those two cards you chose, the R9 280x is is a huge performance increase compared to the 750 ti. The R9 280x performs about the same as a gtx 770.

The 750 ti is more of a low level gaming card. The R9 280x is a midlevel gaming card.

AMD usually gets you more bang for the buck but Nvidia offers better high end cards$

Despite it being high graphics cards. I find that the Nvidia has an easier navigation on its control panel

Alright Nvidia then, but I have a problem too. Here in México City it's so expensive a Nvidia card that's why I was thinking to buy an AMD, then i have 3 decisions: GTX 750 Ti, GTX 750, OR R7 260x

You nearly have the same setup as me. I got the R9 280X and the card is HUGE it runs real hot in my case so I've had to add a fan. I've had to drop graphics quality during the summer because of it. The 750 would probably be the better choice if you don't have a big case or lots of fans. But, the 280X is an awesome card!

I am confused, What happened to the R9 280x?

The r7 260x is the slowest of your list, not even worth getting. I wouldn't get anything lower than the 750 ti. Problem with budget video cards is they may play the games out now but within a year, when the new games come out, you will find it barely playable except on low settings.

i have always been a bigger fan of nvidia than amd and i have tried them both. nvidia runs not only cooler but also quieter they are also awesome overclockable cards i had a 9400GT i was able to OC 20% which made a huge difference then amd on the other hand (bid you its been a LONG time since i had an amd card) didnt like a slight change in voltage which was very depressing

I'm going to assume he's all up in arms over the whole "Nvidia lied about the 970 having 4gbs of memory, it only has 3.5gbs due to the firmware" thing that happened or whatever.

Honestly, if you can get over the fact that the 970 only has 3.5gbs of memory, you should shoot for that one. It's still a very good card, and it's at a great price as well.

The 9xx series is ridiculously priced in NZ. And I get them at dealer rates, not retail.

That whole tier of video cards has issues. The 970 has the memory issue, that has even been shown to show microstutter and other issues in 1080p ultra settings on some games, making it virtually non-future proof. There was some other issue with it, besides the false advertising and lawsuits over it, but I don't remember the details of that. The 290X has bad heat issues and consumes crazy power, maybe 2x the power of the 970.

IMO, avoid this entire tier and get the GTX 980; cut down on other, non-direct performant, parts or just save up if needed.

I'd personally go for the and r9 280x from your original post, especially since you're comparing it against an older card gtx 7xx. if you actually meant the 260x.. Well thats a very different story as thats a rather low end card. I had an older 280x (HD 7970) and had no issues with it at all.

Well, my R9 280X just took a dump. Only had it for 3 months, maybe 4. I think the memory is cooked. I recommend NVidia.
