    Default What Headset?

    Hi chaps,

So my old headset gave up the ghost recently and I am struggling to find something which is comfortable enough to wear for a couple of hours at a time.

In the last week, I have purchased the Corsair Raptor HS40's and Plantronics GameCom 780's, neither of which are any good.

The Plantronics have the most uncomfortable earcups ever with no padding and combined with a vice like grip on your head, leads to a very quick headache and painful ears.

The Corsair's, whilst having considerably more ear padding, have really large earcups which dont sit over-ear. When worn for more than 30 minutes, the leatherette material makes them uncomfortable to wear as you end up with really hot and sticky ears.

So now im looking for suggestions.

    What do you guys use?
    Standalone mic or combined headset?
    Single ear headsets?

Shoot your thoughts - i'm all ears (couldn't resist the pun).

This one is what i use and now that I got the new MBo with its own sound stuff, boom don't even need a dongle to use the 7.1 effects.

You gotta stay away from headsets imo. I have researched this extensively and came to much the same conclusion as many professional audiophiles; headsets are shit.. well, except for a handful of crazy expensive, way overpriced, ones. Here is my recommendation; it is comparable to many of the $300 headsets:

Not that much to be honest as I much prefer the game sound to come through my speaker set-up rather than have it all coming through a headset.

    Maximum probably £80-100.

All I need it for it to hear TeamSpeak and to communicate via the mic.

If you prefer speakers, just get a desktop mic that has a stand with the springy holder, pop guard and such to prevent feedback when you hit your desk; that will cost you about $100 and be professional quality.

Wow that's one hell of a sound card.
On the ops post, I have a plantronics gamecom 780. $60 comfy with glasses, even after a few hours gaming. Great sound. Has surround but can be turned off.
