I have the v2 frost myself. These have amazing sound quality. The mic is pretty good too and you can extend and retract it in. Make sure you register your headset. My first v2 headset mic stopped working and they replaced it for free with the v2 frost.

You might be able to find this on sale sometime too.

IMO, Sennheiser makes the best headsets. Used to use their regular headphones when I was mixing live theatre. They are a diehard brand. However, if you don't want to invest a lot of money, the creative fatality headset does the job and are quite durable. I have two pair, the first has been still ticking for at least 4 years. Not the greatest quality audio, but definitely good enough.

    Disregard the previous...

I got these like 6 months ago and I love them. Sennheiser sound quality is always just phenomenal. The only downsides are no volume control on the wire and you have to buy the USB stereo adapter, but it's like $8 on Amazon. This is right at $50 price range and I love the quality.

Thanks for the recommendations. I ended getting the HyperX headset since it has great reviews and got a good deal on it.

I did think about getting this headset but I could not justify the price tag even though I really like Sennheiser's headphones. I ended getting the HyperX Cloud II's and they are worth the investment for me.

I spend more money on peripherals than I'm honestly comfortable with admitting.

Ok, so over the last 5 years it's probably between 6-800 bucks between mice keyboards and headsets.

I actually still need to get a 2-1 adapter so that I can use the astro mixamp with these headphones, as it just has better surround virtualization than onboard audio, and I've gotten called hacks on how accurate it produces directional sound.
