    Default Battlefield 4 Spring Patch Thoughts Thread

    I wanted to created a forum thread discuss the new spring patch. I have yet to play it but I will include my thoughts at a later point.

    everyone is stoked on the AN-94 in burst mode. I am anxious to read the release notes, but personally didn't notice much difference in game. Had a blast in the new game mode on the AOD server (and came in last every time)....

    Think it is just great that after so long, they still support the game. That should make everyone happy!

    The support for this game is great, you'll never see this kind of shit for COD. Nice to have a dev and community that keeps trying to improve it.

    I <3 the new Gun Master game mode; It gets redundant after a while, but I think if they switched the load-outs every now and then it'd be great.

    Not as easy as all of that, but we can do it. Once ProCon catches up to this update I'm sure we'll have the ability to randomize it (or a plugin will be made). Right now, it's a manual switch requiring a server restart.

    We're working on it.

    Yep, I know, I didn't even know that something you could change server-side: I thought it was just automatically randomized every 24 hours or something like that, I wasn't really complaining-

    Ok so I've punched alot of time on the patch and here are my thoughts, also anyone looking for a breakdown of each weapon and what changed on it see my other post. Big thanks to Itchi and tboose for spending some time in the server with me to test some stuff out on ranges/zeroing etc..

    Sniper rifles (course i start here). They changed zeroing, it no longer starts at 0. It starts at 100 or 75 depending on the scope you have equip'd. Side effect of this is its changed how you have to adjust for drop if you do it by eye instead of zeroing, screwed me up for a few games, finally getting used to it now. Also if you are using the Mares Leg and curious why you are missing headshots THIS is why so aim a bit lower.

    An-94 is nice, didnt use it much but from what I did it was great.

    Shotguns are much improved and actually feel like shotguns should now. They changed ALOT about individual shotguns so see my other post for specifics.

    DMR's got a few changes overall and individually. The SKS is even more crazy and the SCAR SV feels better.

    Mares Leg, sorta useless as a sniper backup which sorta bummed me out but as a backup to say a shotgun its fantastic and gives you a long range option. One shot kill to the head inside 40m, one to the head and one to the body outside that.

    FLIR/IRNV optics in every iteration have changed alot. It has to be seen to be understood but those that used them before will rejoice in the fact that the fuzz is gone. Also the effective range "SEEMS" to be better, could just be a effect of cleaning them up however.

    Ammo counts on alot of weapons have changed. Most notable to me personally was the Deagle which unfortunately you will see me use less due to a reduced ammo count (Fire, I will want more ammo boxes lol).

    The new LMG is cool, I like it but see no reason to use it over other options due to its VERY limited mag capacity (30rds).

    All of the carbines have been retouched, the M4 is even more of a beast. For individual changes see other post.

    The GROZA variants are sorta meh in my opinion, and I havnt used them much

    The SRAW was nerfed HARD, its faster but has a MUCH worse turning ability.

    Ladders/Elevators were removed from some game modes (Oblit, TDM etc.)

    Gungame is fantastic and I eagerly await plugins to randomize weapons, I sincerely hope we keep a gungame server!!!! <------ THIS

    Jets got the crap kicked out of them, I don't really know how bad it really is as I am horrible in them regardless.

    Laser guided missiles from Jets/Boats/Heilo's have changed, you cannot launch both at once anymore and its one at a time until impact now.

    Bullet Velocity has changed on ALOT of weapons, so check that stuff out (Firephoenix if you read this switch from the MG4 to the Type 88, thank me later)

    Some things I've noticed that I have no patch notes or datamining to back up (THIS MAY ALL BE IN MY HEAD).

    Suppressors don't seem to affect velocity near as much

    Faster rate of fire weapons seem to be MUCH harder to control at range, the individual weapon changes seem to support this but hard to say overall.

    I'm dumb and couldn't figure out how to edit so i'll add here.

    To clarify on the DMR"s, the DMR spread past 300m is now worse, inside that its better so if you used them for really long range you will not be happy.

    Can't believe I forgot the biggest nerf as it will make me happy for years to come.

    UCAV / Mortar nerf, you now must wait 60seconds AFTER you spawn each time before they are usable.

    wow thanks for all that input apnixx hell of a write up :)

    i havnt played much with it just noticed the change in the IRNV and FLIR which are much better hopefully in the weeks to come i will explore more of the new upgrades and changes

    Less reserve ammo for skill revolvers is a crappy change. Their damage reduction is also not a welcome sight ~_~

    They did not, the night maps and the new map are coming in the summer patch. They were not done. We got the new game mode tho :)

    I know you weren't complaining, I was just explaining. Paragon can tell you that whatever is available for us after a patch or with a new game, I'm all over it. Like white on rice on a paper plate in a snowstorm.

    No you're right, it looks like it was changed, at least on some guns. From Symthic:

    F2000: InitialSpeed_Silencer - from 320 to 340

    At least, I think that's what that means...

    Here's the guns that have that change:

    Yeah, agreed. DICE tries something new ... screws it up. Fixes it even if it is still rough around the edges, it works and is fun. Heck, even Battlefield 2 had some issues after full support ended.

    COD on the other hand ... how do they screw it up so much when all they do is change the perks around a bit (shuffle is more like it) and rename the kill streaks.
