    Default attempting to adjust

    First off, Hello!
I've only been in AOD for a couple weeks, and hav been enjoying the team work and (often hilarious) conversations on TS with you all.

Having come from some old school WWII Combat flight "sim" games, I have always flown with a joystick. Here, I regularly fly in AB mode just due to time and fun, but Joysticks and AB don't add up to high scores.
As such, I am attempting to get used to the keyboard/mouse thing. so far, not so good aa I am very used to the analog (progressive) input of a throttle and stick.
Any tips would be very welcome.

    Thing's that'll help

Ur throttle is hot-keyed to Your Mouse/3 button.I'd leave it there. Get used to quick-scrolling up-down in the throttle range. It'll take time, as the "lag' varies from engine to engine.Secondarily, get used to using flaps. They help a GREAT deal both in turning, and energy conservation. Nothing like a 180deg turn, and suddenly the guy wing-overs and drops out of Your range of turn rate, then reverses and BOOYAKASHA,the aggressor dies. Work w/the speed of Your control inputs, those'll help as well. If You have a adjustable DPI mouse, take time to figure out what DPI is best,THEN mate that to the speed of controls on the ingame options. I have My mouse set at "think hard and it happens' and the in-game set to 'medium' speed. That allows Me quick control,w/the ability to over-correct if needed. It's a matter of personal flavor/taste. Anything We can do,let us know

    Hello scars9!

Have you give Simulator Battles a go? Since you are coming from WW2 flight sims and know how to fly with a joystick I don't think you will have trouble. Don't take my word for it though, I don't have much experience with SB myself as I only mastered taking off and (crash) landing part, using mouse and keyboard.

As for AB, controls and game mechanics are so unrealistic that you are probably going to need to forget everything you know and re-learn it the War Thunder way. I don't have any experience with forgetting part either but can provide good tutorials from Youtube about the learning part. There is a guy on Youtube called Long5hot and he has nice beginner tutorials (even covering the key setup, which may be useful to you on changing things to a similar way) and advanced ones with a lot of useful tactics, he is the best Boom and Zoom tutor on Youtube if you ask me. Posting the link here, if anyone wants to check him out. Youtube: Long5hot

Also, there are training sessions happening on Friday(?) nights but I don't have much info about it since I only had the pleasure of participating in it once due to my low in-game time.

    (I wish this was helpful.)

Nonfic- very helpful. I've watched a bunch of long5hots videos. Didn't know about the keyboard set up one though.
Also, I have considered going straight SB. Probably the right thing to do.

    B.Rubble- as always, thank you!

I'm still suffering some internet connection issues, but as soon as they are resolved this week according to the landlord) I should be on more consistently.
I'll try both Mouse AB and Stick SB & choose a path.

Rubble is often modest and shy about his opinions and advice , so I'll add Not "If", just get a DPI adjustable gaming mouse with extra programmable/assignable buttons. I have a modest priced Logitech G502 but there are lots of good options out there.
