Didn't know that P-51 was used much in Japan. My Daddy, who served on destroyer in the south Pacific told me the the Mustang was pulled from the Pacific Theater because of
it's resemblance to the Tony (Ki-61)

Maybe they were put back in the pacific when the japs started losing and didnt had much Ki`s left ??

once they had range to reach japan they did, if you read Max Hasting's book Nemesis it describes the air offensive against the home islands.

yea mustangs were used as long range escorts and to tangle with Japanese fighters over the mainland.
