We've shed blood and lives to save innocents and kill those who would loot, their money and their freedom. Some say We fought for Bush,or perhaps for the oil. Many say We fought for Ol' Glory, and the safety of American soil. Having smelled the smoke, and seen the elephant,I'm here to tell You true. We didn't for for Mom,Apple Pie,or even her,or YOU.We fought for the Man to our left, and the other to our right. We heard their cries, and yells of war,and responded with all our might.I've seen 100,sent to rescue one. I've seen one, rescue so many they are uncounted.
Today remembers all the Veterans,of all the Wars, ever fought, anywhere, for any reason. For when the sword, the musket, the rifle is in Your hand,You fight not for God or Country,You fight for the squad You came with. From the walls of Jericho, to the Plains of Syria. The fields of death in the USA,to the streets of Stalingrad. From flaming cities in WWII,to flaming skyscrapers in YOUR Country. We.Fought. We answered the call when many cowered. We stood tall when many faltered. WE.ARE.YOUR.VETERANS. That many are homeless is tantamount to criminal. That many go without care for their wounds, both seen and un-seen,is shameful. For once,Just once,In our digitally led, electronically leashed lives, look up and find a Man or Woman to thank. From the Code breakers of Bletchely Park, to those whom serve under the waves,in the dark. THEY are whom You have to thank for Your freedom,Your dignity,Your honor.
Thank.Them. Now.
