Those that I would most consider installing are the star trek and the warhammer 40k one.
And maybe the star wars one.

Does playing Crusader Kings 2 and Europa universals 4 count as RTS games ?
i have also played Rome Total war ( My favorite total war game ) and Total war Atilla
This is a interesting question, what does everyone think I've already had them in the strategy pile but had always thought of them as turn based.
That said you do real time manage the world with battles etc and generally no pauses in multiplayer if you talk before hand
I own all DLC for all
They are definitely in the turned based strategy pile, but are unique with real time tactics when you battle.
I love the Total War series and have over 300 hours on Rome II Total War. I'm approaching 100 hrs on Attila. Haven't really played the multiplayer on either of the games, I like the campaigns way too much
I used to fight a mean game of StarCraft. Unfortunately, SC2 units allow too many different rush attack scenarios for me to be ready for. I tend to be very good a large army wars and regional strategy. Unfortunately, most people in SC2 can kill you in 5 minutes or less now a days.
What once was can never be again,
What is now will never come anew,
What will be will only pass once.
Cherish it all.
I'm surprised only one person mentioned AoE. AoE:RoR on the MSN Gaming Zone was basically how I got started with multiplayer gaming. Admittedly it was the trial version that came on the Win98 cd (yes there was a gaming lobby for it), but surprisingly there was a vibrant community for it, and the trial lobby existed until around 2005. Not the greatest graphics, and the trial only came with one map, but you'd be amazed how many different strategies came out of a single map and 4 different types of civilizations.
Good old days...
Touche. :)
What's everyone's opinion on the C&C games?
I personally love 'em. The games just have a good RTS feel to them.
I like C&C games and ones like them, although the only one I have much experience with is Generals: Zero Hour (and zackman0010 can attest to my utter lack of skill at that)
I would recommend giving red alert 2 & 3 a go :)
Then you missed some pretty good games in my opinion.
P.S. remember C&C renegade? well a fan remade it - www.renegade-x.com

ooo i will have to check it out, the game was before its time. Imagine now if you took a favorite RTS and turned it into a FPS, simply smashing.
