    Default Sad....

Im sure this will be deleted but whatever....

I've been in AoD for a while but haven't been a full member long but I am a early closed beta vet of PS2. I've seen something tonight that I in all my years of gaming have never seen before. The biggest douche move by a clan for no other reason then to be an ass hat. We had a full platoon running tonight and the current platoon leader decided to log off. Because there were no "OFFICERS" online to take over the platoon they decided to disband it. I, though only a recruit by AoD standers told the platoon in both team speak and in game coms that I would take it over and rename it away from the "Official AoD" name so it wouldn't brake up a full platoon of people playing together. but NOOOOO..... maybe kind of almost could be i dunno but I think....... changing the name would be buggie and wouldn't update...... so we're going to disband the platoon. We dont give a shit that one of our members will take it, we could care less that you and 40+ other people are enjoying working together kicking ass in the game. We are going to be a bunch of jack legs and disband your platoon.

Ridiculous.... I be damn if I'm gonna waste my time in a clan that's more worried about "image of our name on a platoon" then having people play the game. You've done more damage to your reputation by doing BS like this then would ever be done by the "AoD" name being on a platoon ran by OMG... A recruit or a non member.....

boot me, kick me, ban me, delete this post, whatever... I left the outfit tonight because of this and I believe about 10 others did as well. Take this as a nickles worth of free advice. If this is your attitude for this game then you need to reevaluate what your doing and how you run things. This is a game and as an outfit you take your self's way to serious.

oh, and by the way, we reformed with most of the people from the disbanded platoon. We went on to win 2 alerts, lock 2 continents and for the most part crush and destroy everything in our path. Wouldn't that have been nice to have the AoD name on.....

I can only say I never had this happen when I was playing. There are always two sides to every story and just because one person did something wrong in your point of view, maligning the entire AOD clan is wrong IMHO. Maybe he did not know he could pass PL to a non-officer or did not know what to do at that time. Instead of ranting, you could have emailed an officer and let him know what went down, they would have handled this without all this drama. Remember it’s only a game.

If no full member was available to run the platoon (Cdt+ rank, and TS access required), then the platoon should be shut down via the "/squad disband" command.

That is division policy, and always has been. If a full member is so interested in having platoons up, they should volunteer to take the lead. And yes, if a brand new Rct is the only volunteer, the answer should be "thanks for the offer, but we will just have to shut down."

In game message should be "Thanks for playing with us, this has been an AOD platoon, have a fun night, but we are disbanding at this time". Very polite, then squads shut down properly.

Then if full members want to squad up and run together in a small group (as nobody wanted to run a platoon) I encourage it.

The Clan's "brand" is more important than any one of us. Our in game platoons are a big part of that brand.

I wish you had reached out to me to discuss, but you did not. Based on your forum name, you are only an in game member, so probably did not hear the discussions in TS about who was available to lead the platoon. I also have to assume that for whatever reason, you have not been aware of the "full member" options that we advertise in platoons, and outfit chat, on a rather frequent basis. Of the 4,000+ in game members, only about 400 are "full members" with the extra rights/privilages/etc to do things like run our "Official Platoons".

This is a game, have fun, in whatever way that means to you. But when representing the AOD Clan, it has to be done within certain parameters, and I will not deviate from the standards that need to be held to.

    ^^ Kestah is spot on.

This clan has been around since 1999 and its success is based upon upholding certain standards. I wish you luck with whoever you play with next. Perhaps by then you will decide that dialog and messages are better than kneejerk reactions.

I'm no veteran of PS2 or AOD, that being said these are some of my personal common-sense pointers to consider:

    -Don't be difficult.
-Rules exist for a reason; abide by them.
    -Follow your chain of command.

No one is forcing you or anyone to be here; leave if you disagree with the chain of command for following the rules that they and everyone else agreed to follow when they signed up.
