    Default I'm hurts :(

Hey everyone. You may have noticed my recent inactivity compared to what I was logging before. Well I visited the doctor and it turns out I hurt my hand (some nerve damage) playing war thunder on a bad keyboard too much. So I need to back off for a little bit and "only" play a few hours a day (he was shocked when I played more than 20-40 minutes - haha!) until my hand heals some. I have a new keyboard now though and a nifty splint so hopefully I'll be back soon. Happy flying/tanking!

Hah- I told my doc that i was playing on average 6-10hrs per day but it can easily stretch to 12 or even more depending on how much energy i got.

Arright, have a seat, welcome To NotADr.Rubbles class on "How to not hurt ya meat-beaters' when playing extended gaming sessions. Lesson one-ERGONOMICS...Say it with Me ERRGUUHNNOOMIIIKS no no NO TheRealDon Not "Omnomnomnom' Ya hungry SOB..ERGONOMICS. Sit with Your chair at a correct height. Most use a office type chair.Don't have one?Using a dinette chair from 1973?GET A REAL CHAIR DAMMIT. This is one thing that WILL screw up ur hands...how?Nerve damage....bad angles cause "wrist-rest' which, when done against a surface long enough, deadens the nerves below the skin, leading to "twitch' fingers and numbness
2-distance to keys. It's like driving. Ya adjust the seat fore/aft, get the seat-back at the angle ya like..aahhhh...effortless right?Same thing applies. Keep Your arms/hands in close to avoid over-extension of tendons/ligaments. Gotta be comfortable yet not inhibiting.
3-Desk/keys height-If Your reaching up/down,it's wrong. gotta be at same level as resting use.

most importantly-MOVE. Yep,get up.walk around. Do windmills w/Your arms. Scratch ur ass using ur off hand. Flip the bird (cause bird is the word). Gotta keep the blood flowing. Sitting/playing causes blood to pool. Move that sludge around. Do hand-wrist exercises designed to ward off Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. *Google em,there's many to do and most DO help* last but NOT least...

As usual Rubble provides sage advice re: ergonomics (though his style of prose can take some getting used to LOL ) But you do need to take ergonomics seriously, even more so as one ages. I've had similar issues and use the throttle half of a Saitek X52 and a programmable gaming mouse; I never have to touch the keyboard. An option if things don't improve.

    great opportunity to "Explain" Rubble-prose...

According to Dr's I dont have ADD/ADHD. I have "1000mph" brain speed. As such, much of My communication, both spoken and written,is "Stream of consciousness". I've developed a "style' of writing that mimics My speaking so most can follow along if they've ever played even 1match w/Me. I know I jump from thought to thought, but there's USUALLY a lead-in to said thought in prev. sentence or 2,not always...usually. Ever a question?Ask Me. Other than that,I like the never having to touch a keyboard idea....

We had a guy at the firm I work at complain that his mouse was defective that it kept shocking him. Someone explained to him it wasn't the mouse but he insisted in getting another one. As soon as he went to use it with the tech there he said this one's defective too. Turns out he had carpal tunnel.

    Get well soon!

maybe playing other games on other systems would help as well.. as it would ease tension on the muscles your normally use for a keyboard and strengthen those muscles you don't normally use .. this is theoretical of course :) but hey its worth a shot.. you must admit it sounds like a worthy hypothesis

The problem Sworn, isn't a muscular one. The nerves that pass through the wrist into the hand go through a bottleneck surrounded by tendon (the tunnel, with carpal referring to hands) that get inflamed from over use. The inflamed tendons end up compressing onto the nerves and BOOM! carpal tunnel syndrome. It takes a long time, a brace, and usually anti-inflammatory drugs to get set straight.

ERGONOMICS...ffs,lol. This takes care of both musculatur AND ligaments/tendons...

Even with PERFECT positioning,You must move at least 3x per hour, even while seated. Particularly the hands/arms. There are many, simple, easy to do exercises to prevent CPS *Carpal Tunnel Syndrome*. It is the same tendon/syndrome that causes "Crabbers claw' while working on crab ships. When You finally rest/sleep Your hand retracts to a "Claw' that can take several hours of painful movement/exercises to get loose. Look up those exercises, get a decent chair and work on the positioning and ffs,GET UP AND MOVE ok?

I had CPS and Tennis Elbow at the same time back in the day. Let me tell you that sucked, so I feel your pain. I got mine when I was shooting IPSC competitively. It was miserable and took 2 months wearing braces and taking anti-inflammatory meds, and no shooting with my right hand. I did get pretty good at my one hand left hand shooting. I have currently not been playing much as I buggered up my left hand a bit at work, so me left hand movement is a bit buggered.

I'm getting better! Today was the first time in months that I was able to cup my hand. I'm so happy that I'm finally healing.

And thank you all for the kind thoughts. I greatly appreciate it.

Ty Sky. I hv a desire, need to help people,no matter what it's with.If I know about it,I'll share it.If I don't,I'll learn it. Being disabled,I had to figure out a way to contribute to the world, but in a limited physical manner,as I don't move so well some days. I like helping solve problems, and it means alot that You sent that msg. Nice to know it's appreciated and noted.
